The Cleveland Cavaliers are one of the emerging squads of the East. With Donovan Mitchell as the center of the franchise, the Cavs have done well for themselves in the last two seasons. However, there have been talks about some of the players not fitting well. There were rumors that Garland and Mitchell don’t seem to gel so well together. Well, Garland did take a backseat after Mitchell’s arrival. Not only that but the rumors further added that Garland might consider leaving Cleveland after Donovan signed his extension. On the other hand, there have also been talks around Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley‘s fit on the floor.
Both play the same role on the team, however, Mobley’s game as a center has brought a lot of fruit for the team recently. Despite Allen’s 3-year $90.7 million veteran extension, his future might be in trouble. Just recently, the Cavs signed restricted free-agent Isaac Okoro to a three-year $38 million deal, as the 5ht pick of the 2020 draft decides to stay in Cleveland. This puts even more pressure on Allen’s future as a Cavalier. Now, there are chances that the Cavs might consider trading away one of their top earners next year, so as to stay under the luxury tax threshold.

But then again, it all depends on what works for the Cavs this upcoming season. Even if the front office were to consider trading Allen or Garland, they would be expecting a star in return. Now, the Cavaliers are on the right path, and ever since LeBron‘s departure from Cleveland, the franchise has finally seen some success. But it would only make sense if they capitalize on it. At this point, maintaining the current roster for as long as possible would be a wise decision.
Of course, the Cavs can look to trade their top earners if they do cross the luxury tax threshold. However, where would Allen fit as a reliable center if not Cleveland? Well, it turns out that trading Allen can benefit the Cavs in multiple ways.
Jarrett Allen will have a great future with the Pelicans
What’s your perspective on:
Could Okoro's big payday spell the end for Jarrett Allen with the Nets?
Have an interesting take?
Just like the Cavs, the Pelicans have also established themselves as a playoff contender in the West. On the other hand, New Orleans might be willing to trade Brandon Ingram if the return is ideal. In this case, the Pelicans can bag Jarrett Allen while the Cavs can add an elite scorer to their roster. But this might also involve LeVert and another asset from the Pelicans to complete the trade. Nevertheless, the Cavs can also look to trade Allen to the Lakers.
This particular trade will send Rui Hachimura and another player from the Lakers to the Cavs. Overall, this trade will be in favor of Allen and the Lakers who are looking to make a deep playoff run next season. If anything, the Cavs can bring in considerable assets when looking to trade their center. It will be interesting to see whether the front office makes a defining decision on either Garland or Allen in the middle of the season.
