Coming into tonight, the Warriors are nursing quite a few injuries that might be a big deal for their performance. Stephen Curry is questionable for the game tonight against the Sacramento Kings due to a knee issue that kept him out of their game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Apart from Curry, Brandin Podziemski is out with an abdominal injury, while Gary Payton II is out with a calf strain. These absences are certain to leave a dent in the Warriors’ line-up, given the importance of the contributions by Curry and Payton on defense.
Steve Kerr said Jonathan Kuminga’s ankle sprain was “significant.” It won’t be a “day-to-day” injury. MRI and an update expected tomorrow. He will be out vs Kings and likely longer.

Then there are the Warriors, who, after Jonathan Kuminga’s recent injury, are supposedly looking to explore trade options. Kuminga has been playing great in the past 13 games, with averages of 16.9 points and 5.1 rebounds. Meanwhile, should his injury worsen, the Warriors might have to, in self-defense of their simply looking competitive during this Western Conference playoff race, start fishing around for trades.
The Warriors are set to clash with the Kings, and let’s hope that this time, Stephen Curry returns. Leading the notable Golden State team so far this season, Curry is averaging about 22.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game. Curry’s absence provided a great opportunity for the other players to step up; however, the Warriors have looked out of sorts offensively in his absence. Curry was out because of a right knee sprain, and while he’s technically day-to-day, he’s not definitely ruled out, and fans are hoping he can return versus Sacramento tonight. Let’s take a look at the depth chart.
PG | Stephen Curry O | Brandin Podziemski O | Dennis Schroder |
SG | Dennis Schroder | Buddy Hield | Moses Moody |
SF | Andrew Wiggins | Moses Moody | Gary Payton II O |
PF | Draymond Green | Jonathan Kuminga O | Kyle Anderson |
C | Trayce Jackson-Davis | Draymond Green | Kevon Looney |
Curry’s return would make a world of difference for the Golden State Warriors, who currently are undergoing a tough patch without their star player. It’s not known if he’ll play, but his presence on the floor could tilt the tide in favor of one against a high-scoring team like the Kings. Without a doubt, the Warriors will look to Curry to guide the ship and tighten themselves again after a slew of losing games without him.

Without a doubt, the Warriors are in a pretty big bind right now. Injuries have always been a problem, and if they would like to compete for one of the playoff spots from the Western Conference, they desperately need their guys back on the court. There are arguments out there that Steph may command so much presence that he is impossible to replace. But, with this roster, Golden State will have to put faith in their role players such as Andrew Wiggins and Dennis Schroder to step up big time until their stars are back.
Going ahead, the Warriors are gonna be checking up on Jonathan Kuminga’s injury situation closely, as his recent performance has really turned the tide in their favor.
