For the first time, Stephen Curry will be playing without his Splash Brother by his side. For the first time, the Clippers will be without their marquee player. This offseason has been one of losses for both the Pacific division teams. However, life has to move on, and within no time, the 2024-25 NBA preseason began. That said, we can’t help but be excited about this year, because you can feel it in your bones – this one’s going to be oh-so-special!
But will Steph be suiting up? Steve Kerr hasn’t made it easier for any of us with his mysterious response. When The Athletic’s Anthony Slater asked, “Is it safe to assume this will be the starting unit in the preseason opener tomorrow?” here’s what the man had to say.
“No. In fact it’s safe to assume that will not be the starters.” The starters in question were Stephen Curry, Brandin Podziemski, Buddy Hield, Jonathan Kuminga, and Draymond Green. Although the Lakers rested LeBron and AD, as well as Anthony Edwards on the Wolves’ side, both the Celtics and Nuggets had all their stars front and center for the matchups.

Almost everything points to Stephen Curry and Green taking the floor (at the very least, limited minutes), but the rest of the starters? That seems to be up for grabs.

More details about the Clippers vs Warriors preseason matchup
The Warriors vs Clippers is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 PM ET at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Per NBA.com, fans can tune into the game via local TV networks, NBC Sports Bay Area and KTLA. 95.7 The Game will also be broadcasting the matchup.
Needless to say, this is one of the most anticipated games in the league. And while Wiggs is out for GSW, the Clippers are unlikely to play Kawhi Leonard for the first game. As of yet, there is nothing which suggests that the ‘Klaw’ isn’t healthy. But much like the Lakers, they might opt to rest their star player in hopes of keeping him on the floor longer for the season.

Anyway, with Coach Lue being quite vocal about taking the defensive-first approach and Kerr as well as Podz, Wiggins, and a few others, making it clear that they plan to attack from the deep, this is going to be a really intriguing matchup.
