NFL Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is not someone who limits his love for sports to just American Football. The 28-year-old is also known to show a keen interest in the NBA. Furthermore, he doesn’t shy away from highlighting his love for his favorite team: The Dallas Mavericks. The same has been seen throughout the tournament, as the NFL star has been hyping up Luka Doncic and co after each of their wins. Furthermore, along with his wife Brittany Mahomes, he has occasionally appeared at the American Airlines Center to watch the players in action.

Thanks to the effort put forward by lead scorer Luka Doncic, shooting guard Kyrie Irving, and others, the Dallas Mavericks have now entered the NBA Finals for the first time since the 2010-11 season. His association with his hometown played a role in the support for his local teams. This may be why not only does the player support the Dallas Mavericks, but he also reportedly sends out his love to the NHL Team Dallas Stars. Ever since Luka Doncic has been a part of the franchise, Mahomes has been making use of his social media to highlight his support for them. Back in 2019, during free agency, he suggested that the Mavericks could acquire players like Al Horford and Patrick Beverley to strengthen their roster. Most recently, he had been sending out his thoughts on many of the high-stakes games that his favorite team was taking part in. From exclaiming “Bang!!!!” after a shot to writing comments like “Naz got to chill” and crying out LUKKAAAA!!!!” every time the Slovenian player pulled off a miracle, all that one needed to do was check out Mahomes’ live reactions to find out how the game was turning out to be.

Besides the praises he sends out on X, the Quarterback also highlights his love for the Mavericks during media appearances. During an interview with First Things First, he talked about the team’s Conference Finals series against the Minnesota Timberwolves and reportedly stated, “I think the Mavs have what it takes. I think if Luka plays the way that Luka can play and Kyrie plays like Kyrie, they have as good a chance as anybody of winning it all.” From highlighting Derrick Jones Jr.’s defence prowess and P.J. Washington’s all-around game, Mahomes divulged information in a manner that only a true Mavericks fan could.

Patrick Mahomes’ love for the Mavericks cannot be more evident. However, there have also been moments when the Chiefs player has specifically targeted Luka Doncic. A few days ago, Luka Doncic secured the Western Conference Finals MVP title for the first time in his NBA career. Mahomes highlighted the moment on social media and simply wrote “Mavs.” This remark came a couple of months after the NFL star reportedly addressed Doncic as “MVP” after the latter’s 38-point performance against the Charlotte Hornets.

There is a popular saying, ‘You reap what you sow. Patrick Mahomes’ years-long love for the Dallas Mavericks has also made the Chiefs Quarterback a favorite among NBA fans. The same was seen quite evidently during Game 3 of the Mavericks-Timberwolves clash.

With the matchup taking place at American Airlines Center, both Mahomes and his wife were seen occupying the courtside seats. Tagging alongside the couple was the player’s teammate Travis Kelce. As the latter was highlighted on the Jumbotron, the Dallas crowd immediately broke into audible boos. However, just as the cameras panned onto Patrick Mahomes, everyone immediately erupted into cheers. The praise intensified after he stood up and started hyping the crowd by telling them to go louder.

Even the Dallas Mavericks themselves did not choose to hide their bias. During the matchup, the official social media account of the Mavericks highlighted the presence of the NFL stars by writing, “Our guy Pat and @taylorswift13’s boyfriend in the house!”. Wow, oh wow.
