“It’s looking like this just might be Bron’s last season.” With just that one tweet, the entire NBA community was taken aback. Of course, LeBron James has been dropping hints lately about his retirement after fulfilling his dream of playing with his son. But how could this be it? The Lakers star still has so much left in the tank. So where did the statement come from? Some fact-finding was done and finally, some details surfaced.
The discussion sparked on the Run It Back show when host Michelle Beadle brought up the topic. Not knowing where it came from, she stated that there was no way LeBron would retire without giving a heads-up. Her co-host former Mavericks star Chandler Parsons also felt that LeBron was too good to retire now. The analyst said, “First of all he’s too healthy. He’s too good. He’s playing at such an elite level right now.” Lou Williams then stepped in to inform them, “Kendrick Perkins started this whole thing.”
Yes, it was LeBron’s ex-teammate Perkins who wrote it. But was it just about an old beef or yet another of his hot takes? Lou further revealed, “He missed the dunk in warm-ups, and Kendrick Perkins says looking like LeBron’s last season.” The ex-NBA guard acknowledged how quickly the rumor spread like wildfire. “I could be referencing the wrong moment, but this definitely started with Kendrick Perkins,” Lou added. Perkin’s statement came after the Lakers’ loss against the OKC, where LeBron had scored 12 points playing for 34 minutes.

The Lakers’ journey has been somewhat bumpy this season, with a 12-8 record, and LeBron hasn’t been at his best offensively, putting up 22.6 points on the scoreboard per game. However, his averages of 8.1 rebounds and 9.4 assists continue to stand out. His shooting from the field has also been above 49%. Although the former NBA star knows quite well that there’s still a long way to go in the season, and with LeBron’s superhuman qualities, he could very well improve his numbers as the year progresses. For now, the 4-time champion is focusing on their next big challenge.
Challenging fixture could give LeBron James a sleepless night
It’s the Timberwolves again. Despite securing a win against them in late October, LeBron James considers it a tough matchup, and it’s easy to see why, given the solid roster they have.

During a post-game interview, as the 39-year-old was yawning, a reporter asked if he would be able to sleep on the flight back to Minnesota. LeBron responded, “I won’t be able to sleep on this flight, for sure.” He further mentioned, “Everything is still like running, you know, from the game and depending on how I feel once I get to Minnesota.”
About the clash, LeBron claimed, “Going to be very challenging for us. We don’t know who’s in and who’s out.” Minnesota could release some last-minute updates regarding their injury list, which might create more trouble for the Purple and Gold. However, head coach JJ Redick will surely have some more strategies up his sleeve to handle the situation, too.
