The Memphis Grizzlies are in desperate need of a win as they hit the road to face the Atlanta Hawks. With their star point guard Ja Morant questionable, Memphis must find a way to overcome its recent slump. Memphis is the highest-scoring team in the league but has struggled lately dropping a few games. Over the past three weeks, the Grizzlies have won just three games out of nine. That’s concerning given how solid they’ve been through the season. Recently, they fell short 130-128, against a Spurs team without their star, Victor Wembanyama.
Well, the Grizzlies were short-handed themselves, with point guard Ja Morant missing the matchup due to an injury. However, there was a bright spot in the defeat, with Jaren Jackson Jr. enjoying a 42-point game. Having said that they’ll need Morant back to compete against the threat of Atlanta’s Trae Young. So, is the Grizzlies’ point guard set to suit up against the Hawks in a highly anticipated affair at the State Farm Arena?

Memphis Grizzlies injury report ahead of the showdown vs the Atlanta Hawks
As the Grizzlies gear up to face the Hawks, there’s an air of concern around the team. Why? Well, everyone is intrigued to know if Ja Morant is fit for the clash. A significant factor in this is the 25-year-old’s stats against Atlanta. Morant thrives against tonight’s opposition averaging a stellar 21.5 points, 5.9 assists, and four rebounds. Unfortunately, Morant is questionable due to a lingering shoulder injury that also kept him out of the last game.
This could be a massive blow for Memphis, not only because of Morant’s solid figures against Atlanta but also due to their record without him. They are 14-9 without their point guard this season, that’s well below their record with him on the court. However, it’s not just Morant’s injury that troubles Memphis.

The Grizzlies will also miss rotational guard Yuki Kawamura, who remains sidelined with a hamstring injury.. The 23-year-old has featured in 20 games this season, while his stats might not reflect that he’s quite a handy player. Lastly, the Grizzlies will also be without Zyon Pullin. Zyon Pullin is ruled out tonight with a knee injury. However, the Grizzlies are not the only ones hard-hit with injuries. The Hawks are dealing with an even worse injury crisis tonight.
While Atlanta will be without Georges Niang, Larry Nance Jr., Vit Krejci, Jalen Johnson and Kobe Bukfin, the most notable absence could be Trae Young! The 26-year-old is on the injury report and listed as questionable for tonight’s clash. This is a result of an Achilles problem and could work in Memphis’ favor. He’s averaging 23.8 points while dishing out 11.4 assists. So, his absence will be a huge boost, especially if Morant is available to exploit Atlanta’s defense.
Having said that, you might be wondering what changes will come into play with the injuries in the Grizzlies camp. Here’s what we think.

What’s your perspective on:
Can the Grizzlies survive without Ja Morant, or is their season doomed without their star?
Have an interesting take?
How will the Memphis Grizzlies line up with Ja Morant’s fitness in question?
So far, this season, Memphis has been a formidable force in the league possessing the power to score baskets from anywhere on the court. Ja Morant has played a significant role in this success and with his fitness in the air, head coach Taylor Jenkins will have to be ready with a plan ‘B’, just in case. Apart from this, he’ll be relieved with forward Jaren Jackson Jr., who has been phenomenal this season. The 6-foot-10 powerhouse is averaging just over 23 points with 5.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. He will take charge if Morant misses tonight’s battle.
The Grizzlies lineup could look like:

Position | Starter |
PG | Ja Morant (questionable) |
SG | Desmond Bane |
SF | Jaylen Wells |
PF | Jaren Jackson Jr. |
C | Zach Edey |
Overall, this seems to be a fun matchup between two good sides. However, the Hawks have been inconsistent throughout the season. Keeping that in mind, the Grizzlies will have an upper hand tonight. Also, Memphis has already grabbed a win against Atlanta this season when the two sides met in December. Nonetheless, it should be a great watch as we near tip-off in Atlanta’s State Farm Arena.
