From Arkansas Sharpshooter to Thunder’s Rising Star

Born and raised in Arkansas, Isaiah Joe’s basketball journey started in high school. He went to Northside High School but never knew he would meet his current teammate, Jaylin Williams. The hooper averaged 22.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.9 steals per game. Do you know he was named Gatorade Arkansas Boys Basketball Player of the Year? Yes, he was.

However, despite his accolades, the team fell short of the state championship, losing to North Little Rock High School in the final game. But Isaiah Joe’s legacy was set. He had already begun to capture the attention of college scouts, and he settled to play for the University of Arkansas over offers from other schools, including Alabama.

At Arkansas, Joe quickly made a name for himself. He had an extraordinary freshman season. The hooper averaged a stunning 13.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. If that was in his first season, then read further. He set a new school record, 113 three-pointers. With this, he broke the mark previously held by Arkansas legend Scotty Thurman. He wasn’t just making his records but was also helping the team win multiple games.

Who knew something big was waiting for him? He was named preseason All-SEC and was placed on the Jerry West Award watchlist. It eventually led to him being ranked as one of the top prospects for the 2020 NBA Draft. And he wanted to impress, so he did exactly that. He was declared for the 2020 NBA Draft. But there came a twist. Initially, the hooper announced his return to Arkansas, but in August 2020, he reversed course and declared for the draft once again. The Philadelphia 76ers selected him as 49th overall. Just days later, after his signing, he made his debut. His role was limited as he played just seven minutes in his first game against the Cavs.

In October 2022, his time ended with the Philly as he was signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He quickly found his rhythm in Thunder and wasn’t late to set new career records. We aren’t lying.
