The Brooklyn Nets made a significant move by bringing back their former asset, D’Angelo Russell. However, with the loss to the Raptors, his return hasn’t gone as one would hope. Soon after, news surfaced of his injury. Now, as the team prepares to face their Eastern rival, the Indiana Pacers, fans are left wondering, will the newly acquired D’Angelo Russell be stepping in tonight?
Nets Injury Report
The answer is not sure. The Nets have listed D’Angelo Russell as questionable due to a left shin contusion. The injury might not be so serious but it is definitely a major concern for the team. D’Angelo Russell was sidelined after just 14 minutes of play on Saturday against the Sixers when he hurt his left foot. Just to be extra careful, the Nets will continue monitoring his condition before making a final decision on his availability for the Eastern clash.

Besides D’Angelo Russell, Ben Simmons has also been tagged as questionable. The Aussie too is suffering with his left calf soreness, which could prevent him from playing, as it did in the previous game against Philly.
The next one on the list is Cameron Thomas, who had just returned after a month-long recovery from a strained left hamstring. Unfortunately, he sustained another strain in the same area during the recent game against the Bucks. The franchise announced that the medical team will re-evaluate him after their West Coast road trip. Cameron Johnson has been on the injury list for quite some time now and will remain there for the next three games as he sprained his right ankle in the same match.
That’s not all for the Nets. New information has dropped regarding Trendon Watford, who was dealing with the same injury as Thomas. Watford has started his on-court workout but isn’t fit enough to join the squad this week. There’s some good news for Brooklyn fans, as Bojan Bogdanovic, who underwent surgery on his left foot, is set to make his return soon. However, Monday will not be the day for his comeback.
By now, if your eyes have popped out from seeing the number of injured players, take a breath, as there are two more. Maxwell Lewis, who just arrived in Brooklyn, has already fractured his left tibia and is expected to miss four weeks. De’Anthony Melton, on the other hand, will miss the entire season due to a sprained left ACL. Compared to the Nets’ lengthy injury report, the Pacers’ situation seems relatively manageable.
Pacers Injury Report
The Pacers’ injury list pretty much remains the same. The name that has been registered on the report for nearly two months is Aaron Nesmith. The 25-year-old is dealing with an ankle sprain that he sustained against the Pelicans in early November. Since he has not fully recovered yet, he will not be available for tonight’s game.
Joining him are Isaiah Jackson and James Wiseman. Both of them have been ruled out for the season due to torn Achilles injuries. This brings us one step closer to finding out who could be suiting up for the big night.

The two sides have already met once this season, with the Nets taking the win. However, historically, the Pacers are far ahead with their 112 victories, compared to Brooklyn’s 84. This time, Indiana could capitalize on the Nets’ lengthy injury list.
They have won the last two games and will be looking to extend their winning streak to three. The Pacers currently hold an 18-18 record and sit in the 8th spot, while the Nets are in 12th place with a 13-22 record. So, they will be needing both D’Angelo Russell and Ben Simmons to take charge. Who will come out on top in the second clash of the season? Find out at 7:30 PM ET, live from Barclays Center.
