Can Bradley Beal's resilience keep the Suns afloat without KD, or is it too much pressure?

Well, the Suns have played their last two games without Kevin Durant as he recovers from a left calf strain. But Bradley Beal has stepped up in his absence, keeping the team afloat with his elite scoring. Unfortunately, he too got injured last night as he left the game mid-way through the fourth quarter due to left calf tightness. And as concerns grow regarding his availability for tonight’s Kings encounter, Beal has given the fans an enormous sigh of relief with the latest update on his health.

Addressing why he headed to the locker room with over seven minutes left in the game, Beal said, “(Calf) Just got tight on me. I think it was probably lingering from the knee injury last game.” Yes, he injured his knee during Friday’s game and although it did not cause him to miss any time, he is still feeling the effects of it. But he assured that his early exit was nothing to worry about. The Suns star said, “It should be alright. Just a little precautionary, got one tomorrow so.”

Moreover, he was optimistic about playing tonight’s back-to-back encounter as he admitted, “It feels good. It’s a little tight still but hopefully, I should be good tomorrow. See how I feel in the morning.” Well, Beal definitely played his part before leaving the game as he scored 24 points and was the second highest scorer on his team behind Devin Booker.

Booker also speculated that Beal might have injured his calf by accidentally kicking himself. Beal responded, “Yeah, that’s a strong possibility.” Yes, the superstar revealed that it happened when he was attempting a crossover during the third quarter. And kicking himself was “definitely one of the reasons” behind the calf tightness. But the minor setback has not shifted Beal’s focus as he eyes a return tonight.

Obviously, there are still a few more games left before KD makes his return as he was ruled out for at least two weeks. That means the Suns will need Booker and Beal to stay healthy and available to keep their dominant start going. And Beal has set the bar high for himself and his teammates. He issued a rallying cry for the team and himself by suggesting, “We gotta keep stepping up. I gotta be more aggressive obviously on offense and everybody does. That’s a lot of points we gotta try and make up for.”

Have an interesting take?

Well, KD was averaging 27.6 points before he got injured. So, the Suns need all the scoring they can get in his absence. Moreover, Beal is happy with how his team has responded so far, “I think we do a good job man… I like how we competed tonight.” And he would hope to carry this momentum to tonight’s game.
