When it comes to Bobby’s relationship status, the details are limited. As of now, Bobby isn’t dating anyone publicly. He’s kept his personal life under wraps, with hardly any clues coming from his social media accounts. In fact, if you scroll through his Instagram, it’s all about basketball, his family, and some fun travel photos.

However, if we rewind to 2015, he was reportedly in a relationship with Kanesha Woods, a former basketball player he met in high school. Kanesha, a criminal justice major, played guard for Minot State University during the 2015–2016 season. But as of now, there’s no sign of a current romance. But beyond relationships, Bobby’s personal life reveals a lot about his character, especially when we dive deep into his family. Born on February 10, 1995, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Bobby had a somewhat hard start when his father, Bobby Portis Sr., left when he was just a baby. Bobby’s mother, Tina Edward, took on the challenge of raising him as a single parent. Moreover, Portis has often spoken about her sacrifices, crediting his mom as the sole reason for his achievements.

Bobby also found a father figure in his stepdad, Marcus McCarroll, who entered his life when he was ten. He has four brothers—Jared, Jamaal, Jarod, and the youngest Bryan, following in Bobby’s footsteps and currently plays basketball for the University of Arkansas-Little Rock.

Merging Career Success with Meaningful Charity

Bobby’s journey as a player began in high school, where he earned McDonald’s and Parade All-American honors and was named Mr. Basketball of Arkansas in 2013. During his college career at the University of Arkansas, he earned numerous accolades, such as becoming the first in-state McDonald’s All-American to sign with the Razorbacks since 1992, and SEC Player of the Year in 2015.

Bobby entered the NBA draft later that year and was selected 22nd overall by the Chicago Bulls. Portis’ rookie season saw notable performances and quickly became a key contributor to the team. After stints with the Washington Wizards and New York Knicks, Portis found his place with the Milwaukee Bucks, leading the team to a 2021 NBA Championship victory.

Bobby isn’t just making waves in the NBA; he’s making a difference off the court through his charitable work. Inspired by his own upbringing, he established the Bobby Portis Foundation, which provides resources and mentorship to single-mother households. In 2022, Bobby took on a different challenge partnering with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson. He launched a campaign to reduce reckless driving and aimed to promote road safety.

I talked to God a lot since I was a young child. I followed the path that He lays, and He has blessed me tremendously and helped me get here. I feel like anything that I ask from Him, He gives it to me in some way,” said Portis.
