The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Utah Jazz 114-104 in the rematch that saw Anthony Edwards make his case for the dunk King. But it didn’t come without a consequence. Immediately after the dunk, ANT held up his finger and went to the locker room to check it out.

Anthony Edwards’ finger injury turned out to be a dislocation, but he returned to the game and finished with 32 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists. Notably, a Nickeil-Alexander Walker pass to a charging Edwards set the stage for the monstrous dunk on John Collins. The Jazz forward tried his best to contest it, only to end up with a head injury.

He had returned to the locker room, entering the concussion protocols. But it was confirmed to be a head contusion, as per Charania. Tonight’s victory is the third straight win for the Wolves as they gear up to host the Denver Nuggets tonight. Seeing that a dislocated finger isn’t a major injury concern, the Wolves’ star guard will probably suit up against Nikola Jokic and Co. After all, Anthony Edwards is not one to give up on a game with a superstar on the opposing side.

Anthony Edwards and his team are low on ammunition against the Nuggets

Tonight’s Denver matchup will be only the second one of the season. The last time they met was on November 1, 2023, and the T-Wolves won that game. But this time, they have key players missing, namely Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert. And probably Naz Reid. Reid exited after the first half with a head injury and was confirmed to not return for the rest of the game.

Both Denver and Minnesota are tied for the second position in the West at 47-21, just half a game behind the Oklahoma City Thunder. Seeing how Towns is usually in the position to guard Jokic one-on-one, that will be a major issue the Timberwolves will have to deal with. Kyle Anderson would mostly be relied on to take KAT’s place, and Reid, as well. Since there hasn’t been an official update on the 24-year-old center yet, let’s remain optimistic.

Anyway, the Wolves have been one of the most dominant teams this season. While Denver continues their remarkable performance, Edwards and his squad aren’t one to be easily dismissed. There is no doubt that it will be a tightly contested game.
