The upcoming Game 7 between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Denver Nuggets is set to be one of the biggest matchups of the ongoing NBA tournament. After both teams recorded a 3-3 win record during the semifinals, this last game will decide once and for all who will head to the Western Conference Finals and go head-to-head with the Dallas Mavericks. The availability status of the Timberwolves’ lead scorer Anthony Edwards had initially been under a cloud of doubt. This was in light of the injury concerns that he had developed after having a serious fall during the previous matchup. However, thanks to a recent update, a ray of sunshine seems to have passed through that dark cloud.
A few hours ago, Anthony Edwards made an appearance to engage in a Q&A session with several media members. At the same, when asked about his physical condition in the aftermath of the fall, the player replied, “Feeling good. Ready to get the game started”. This is as clear of an indication as fans could get that the walls of the Ball Arena in Colorado will undoubtedly play host to ‘Ant-Man’ for the first ever Game 7 of his NBA career. Furthermore, according to the Injury Report released by the Timberwolves, the player is completely absent from the list. The only individual listed is Mike Conley Jr., whose availability is listed as ‘Questionable’ because of his Achilles Injury.
During Game 6, Anthony Edwards had scored over 24 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists by the time his playing minutes reached 30. In order to take that score even higher, he attempted to make a layup. During the process, however, he had an accidental collision with a rival player and ended up losing his balance and falling straight on his back. It was not clear whether Edwards had just injured his back or whether he managed to even aggravate his tailbone. However, onlookers at the Target Center saw how the player continued lying on his back, not getting up easily even as his teammates started to gather around him. Even Nuggets’ lead scorer Nikola Jokić came forward to check up on the player. In the end, he was escorted to the locker room.

Fortunately, Anthony Edwards was gone for only some time. During the final few minutes, he returned to the paint and dropped an additional 3 points. In the end, his roster secured a decisive victory against the Nuggets by a score of 115-70. During a Q&A session conducted barely a few minutes after the game’s conclusion, the player revealed that his injury was not severe and that he would “be alright by Sunday for sure“. Judging by his recent remarks, the 22-year-old continues to hold the belief and seems to be more than prepared to take on Nikola Jokić and Co. in the next few hours.
How do Anthony Edwards and Co. feel going into Game 7?
The upcoming Game 7 will be the first time for many Timberwolves players, including Anthony Edwards, to be part of such a matchup during the playoffs. After all, it’s not every day that you and your rivals end up in a 3-3 tie. For the leading scorer, however, the game is no different from any other matchup in which he would give out his 100%.

“There’s nothing special about the Game 7, or Game 1, or the 82,” said Edwards. “So, it’s the same game for me. I’m just ready to play it”.
Karl-Anthony Towns, the Timberwolves second-highest average leading scorer, echoed the exact words as his teammate by stating that Game 7 is just “another game in the playoffs.” He expressed confidence in himself and his teammates by saying, “We trust the work we’ve put in throughout the season and in the playoffs, and all the ebbs and flows that come with it. So, trust that the experience and the work we’ve put in will materialize to a win tomorrow”.
Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch stated that everyone on the roster is “locked in, they’re connected, they’re excited”. He proceeded to state while the upcoming matchup is a big one, such games are still won by “little plays”. Therefore, his players must be prepared to take care of the same.
