After Harden’s return, the Golden State Warriors were just about finding their mojo back. However, their groove was short-lived. Warriors’ wing Andrew Wiggins collided with Hawks’ center Clint Capela in their match-up on Saturday.  A limping Andrew Wiggins was seen going into the Warriors’ locker room, to not return thereafter. The internet is flooded with all sorts of fan reactions. The case of the missing Wiggins has sparked confusion among fans.

In a tweet, Anthony Slater, a reporter for the Athletic unraveled Wiggins’ injury and subsequent disappearance from the game.

As per the Warriors, he had been ruled out in the third quarter after his collision. Rookie guard Brandin Podziemski replaced Wiggins in the second half. The incident may not fare too well for Wiggins, not only in terms of physical hurt, but also in terms of the change of teams. Amidst ongoing trade talks, speculation is afoot that the Warriors might just be looking to trade Wiggins.

Dub Nation has been losing it ever since fans saw Andrew Wiggins step into the locker, only to be replaced by Podziemski. Given the heavy trade talk surrounding Wiggins, one fan reacted by stating “he doesn’t fit with golden state“:

Not that sports fans are known for their compassion, but a Warriors fan sent out a warm tweet wishing recovery to Wiggins.

 

From the old to the new

The Golden State Warriors themselves have had an overly underwhelming season this year. The Warriors’ luck is riddled with the injury blues, as it has changed its lineup 16 different times. With key players such as Gary Payton II and Chris Paul on the bench, the struggle has been real for the Warriors. Now with Wiggins’ possible injury, the Warriors will be looking at its young ones to pump blood into the team.

Andrew Wiggins has been performing at an all-time career low this season with field goal percentage (44.2%) and three-point percentage (31.3%), with a mid 12.5 points playing 27.2 minutes (average) per game. In Saturday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, in 19 minutes, Wiggins bagged 2 points with 4 rebounds.

Even though the Golden State Warriors emerged victorious in back-to-back games, they rank 12th in the Western Conference with a record of 21-24. To get back into the playoff mix of things, the Warriors have visibly given more playing time to young players such as Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski. Will Wiggins’ injury make way for the youngins to come out in the forefront?
