Oh, Joel Embiid? When will you play 10 games in a row? It’s another day of the Embiid- Philadelphia 7ers saga that has no end in any way whatsoever. But the good news is, he has taken up the leadership role by attending the Philadelphia 76ers shootaround. However, he didn’t appear to play in the game because of injuries.

Hence, with calls for Embiid to show more leadership, it doesn’t work well for the 76ers if he doesn’t play; especially after Lou Williams called him out. According to Philly Inquirer, Keith Pompey posted on X, “Sixers center Joel Embiid attended Friday’s shootaround, but did not participate.”

Safe to say, after all the chaos in recent weeks, this could calm the toxic atmosphere in Philadelphia right now.

Notably, this comes after Lou Williams mentioned how the franchise must close its doors to Embiid regarding his fitness issues for the long term. The 3x Sixth Man of the Year mentioned, “You’re not playing your best basketball. You’re not even healthy, with Paul George being in and out of the lineup, Tyrese Maxey is in and out of the lineup, you can’t find that consistency that you want to, if you are the Philadelphia 76ers. If you’re the management, what are you waiting for? I’d be thinking long-term, going ahead and shut him (Embiid) down.”

It’s mind-boggling how the Philadelphia 76ers didn’t get the maximum out of Embiid. Moreover, it all started with the player suffering from knee injuries. Injuries have kept him out and the medical reports suggest he’s not 100% fit. The 76ers look to manage his recovery carefully to avoid prolonging the healing process.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Joel Embiid's leadership enough if he's not consistently on the court for the 76ers?

However, there was a twist to the tale. The NBA has fined the Philadelphia 76ers $100,000 for public statements regarding the health status of All-NBA center Joel Embiid. They have supported Embiid for prolonged periods, but sometimes the fans are starting to lose their patience. Well, that’s not all.

Lou Williams wants Joel Embiid’s issue to be resolved!

“Give him an opportunity to be healthy as much as he can. As much as this is gonna hurt, as much criticism as you gonna take from your fanbase, you gotta put yourself in the position of doing what’s best for the organization in the long term. So, if this is not something that is going to get better for Joel Embiid, and we’re going to see him limping every night, by all means, shut him down,” mentioned Lou Williams.

It’s pretty straightforward how the 76ers need to prioritize his fitness. With the arrival of Paul George, they have Tyrese Maxey and George who could take the franchise over the line in certain games.
