Injuries continue to mount for the Los Angeles Lakers. The LA side took on the Utah Jazz in their last outing, shorthanded, with LeBron James out with an ankle strain. Subsequently, it affected the result of the game, as the Jazz took home a comfortable 132-125 win. Right when the Lakers took to collect themselves for their next challenge against the Oklahoma City Thunder, they had yet another injury blow.

Right from the start of the season, the Lakers have been dealing with injuries. The brand new Laker, Gabe Vincent could only 5 games this season, and has been out ever since. On the other hand, Rui Hachimura and D’Angelo Russell have also spent some time on the injury report. Currently, along with LeBron James, another 24-year-old starter has joined him in the injury woes.

The injuries have put the Lakers in the chokehold. Following their In-season tournament win, the team has been struggling to win games. In the last 10 outings, they have managed to win only three. Moreover, it has pushed them into a similar situation from the last season.

Currently, the Lakers have a 19-21 record, which ironically resembled their last season’s record at the same point. However, last season, the Lakers bounced back hard and found their spot in the playoffs. And, it didn’t stop there, they went on to play in the Conference Finals. Meanwhile, when the Lakers expected to pull off a similar stunt this season, they have upsetting news with Cam Reddish.

Hours before the Monday night game against OKC, ESPN dropped the latest update on 24-year-old Reddish. The Lakers starter, who has been on a slump in the last few games, is expected to miss a few weeks because of left knee soreness.

At the same time, this could turn out to be positive news for the Lakers. Reddish had a poor outing in the last two games, where he failed to drop a single bucket. Moreover, he has averaged only 6.5 points in his 33 games, despite being the starting line-up for 26 games.

What will fix the Lakers?

Around the same time last season, the Lakers made drastic changes to their roster which eventually helped them qualify for the playoffs. The team traded out Russell Westbrook and roped in D’Angelo Russell.

Similarly, several reports suggested that the Lakers might be interested in roping in Dejounte Murray. But the question will be, who will they trade out? And, the Lakers have ruled out the option of trading Austin Reaves in the deal. As the trade deadline inches closer, fans could expect a trade soon.

On the other hand, Cam Reddish’s spot in the side could be hanging on a thin thread.
