When a person is famous for a particular skill like acting, singing, sports, etc, people often wonder if that person’s kid would grow up and follow in the parent’s footsteps. One former NBA champion’s kid is proving this stereotype to be true.

A 38-year-old forward who retired in 2022 with the LA Lakers recently appeared on “Club Shay Shay”. There he spoke about his son’s bright future and even answered the question as to who will win in a 1v1.

Former NBA champ talks about his sons’ prospective basketball career

The host of Club Shay Shay, Shannon Sharpe, interviewed the former NBA champion, Trevor Ariza. There he asked him, “You mentioned you had a son, i see he’s following your footsteps, has offers from UCLA, USC, Washington. How tall is he and how good is he?”

Ariza answers, “He’s 6’8 right now. So we around the same height and he has unbelievable talent. He’s getting more athletic as he gets in the weight room a little bit more. He’s still really young, he’s 15 years old, so he is learning to work on his game and love or fall in love with the process of things that you might not like to do when you are pursuing a dream.”

Then Sharpe asked him a follow-up question about a game of 1v1 among them both. Who would win? Ariza responded in a jiffy saying, “I’m gonna kick his a**.” Sharpe tweaks the question and asks him who is better at the age of 15, you or him.

Ariza says and agrees that his son has more skill than him because when he was coming up in basketball, the game was different than what it is today. According to him, you had to be a “dog” on the court, and due to that aspect he would kick his son’s “a**”, or in Ariza’s words, he’s gonna “dog his a**”. However, has his son given any noteworthy performances till now?
