Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns successfully managed to get Minnesota to its first Conference Finals in 20 years. Since then, they’ve fallen into a precarious position, as the Mavs hold a 3-1 lead. One more win and Luka Doncic and Co will be the ones stomping ahead. Knowing how important these next few days will be, Draymond Green offered some interesting clothing advice to KAT, which could bring a change in his mentality.

Green highlighted when he and his team are down in a series, he doesn’t waste any time thinking about how he’s going to be dressed on the court. He stated, “I’m wearing all black, probably some black forces, and that’s that”. The last thing that would be on someone like Towns’ mind in this situation was about how he looks. Even if he was clad in an all-black attire, from head to toe, his only focus should be on winning. This mentality is something that the Warriors star believes would help Karl-Anthony Towns immensely.

“I’m going to war. Like, this ain’t about how I look in the tunnel,” said Green. “Kat should probably take a page out of that book… Sometimes, there just ain’t time to think about that, and like, that’s something that I do when our backs are against the wall. It’s maybe failed me once or twice, but it usually comes through for me. Because winning is a mindset. Winning is a mentality”.

Karl-Anthony Towns’ performance has seen a slip ever since the Timberwolves began the Mavs series. In the initial three games, he only averaged 15 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists. His shooting woes continued till Game 3, as he averaged 5-18 (27.8%) field goals and 1-7.3 (13.6%) three-pointers. His situation greatly improved in Game 4, but he cannot afford to once again drop down.

Many people gave their opinion on how the star can improve, with reserve player Kyle Anderson believing that his teammate can focus more on “rim running” and “taking advantage of mismatches.” However, not focusing on what one chooses to wear during a game is advice that has seldom been heard being handed down to NBA players, hasn’t it?

Draymond Green wanted coach Chris Finch to bench Karl-Anthony Towns

After the Timberwolves had lost their third matchup in a row, there was a need for a scapegoat in the eyes of the media, on who the blame could be pinned. One of the individuals in the firing line was the lead scorer Anthony Edwards, whose performances had also seen a drop against Luka Doncic and Co. However, Draymond Green picked up a different name.

During a segment of ‘Inside the NBA’, the Warriors star dropped the criticism on head coach Chris Finch. He stated that by using Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert in a repetitive manner, Finch is not giving enough chances to players like Naz Reid and Kyle Anderson. This has caused the Mavericks to catch up with their strategy! Therefore, he believed that there was a need for a rotation.

“At what point are you going to make an adjustment?” said Green. “Not worry about feelings. We can’t worry about Karl-Anthony Towns’ feelings or Rudy Gobert’s feelings … he has not done a great job, and he’s blaming his guys. That’s not good”.

His advice seemed to have gone unnoticed since Karl-Anthony Towns was still present during Game 4. Therefore, knowing that he is there to stay, Dray recently did his part in highlighting what winning mentality the Timberwolves star can adopt going forward.
