The Minnesota Timberwolves finally broke out of their years-long rut and currently occupy the top spot in the West. However, the man driving them to this success has found himself embroiled in a controversial situation. Anthony Edwards has recently become a center of scrutiny after Instagram model Paige Jordae released a private conversation between the two. The leaked text messages allegedly suggest that Edwards got Jordae pregnant and further requested that she get an abortion, even offering $100,000 to undergo the process.

However, with this new scandal unfolding, interest has recovered a 5-month-old video of the Ant-Man warding off any women interested in him while stating that his girlfriend, Jeanine Robel, is the “only one.”

The T-Wolves guard has played a huge role in Minnesota making it to the postseason for the last two seasons. Considering his impact on the team, the franchise decided to offer him a rookie max extension, which includes a 5-year, $260 million deal. To break it down, the 22-year-old would receive roughly $52 million per year, a staggering amount for a then-third-year guard.

Following the extension, Edwards posted a video online, sending a warning to women interested in him. In the video, the All-Star guard says that his girlfriend, Jeanine Robel, is the only person who will be enjoying the spoils of his massive paycheck. He added, “She the only one that’s coming up. She new to the table, so I’m a little green for her. Everybody else, the light is the same color as my damn jacket.”

This didn’t age well. The allegations were particularly startling since they came on the heels of Jeanine’s recent announcement of her pregnancy with her first child. However, despite being at the center of a controversy, the young guard has not let it affect his on-court performance.

In the team’s recent 108-112 victory against the Miami Heat on Monday, the Georgia alum posted an impressive 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. His increased production, in addition to Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert’s efforts, has been a game-changer for the T-Wolves, who are looking like a real threat this season. Hopefully, the recent controversy won’t throw a wrench in their title aspirations.

The Minnesota guard has issued an official apology addressing the situation. He wrote, “I made comments in the heat of a moment that are not me, and that are not aligned with what I believe and who I want to be as a man. All women should be empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them. I am handling my personal matters privately and will not be commenting on them any further at this time.”
