The 20-year-old shooting guard once sat courtside, cheering for the King. Now, he’s ready to step onto the court with him. James Jr.’s preseason has been rough. He went scoreless in two games. Then, he had a standout 17-point game. Well, in instances, it felt like the youngster lacked confidence in his gameplay. This has made the ‘OG’ Draymond Green share some advice for the rookie.
Speaking on the Draymond Green Show on Spotify, the Golden State Warriors legend’s tough love for Bronny overflowed. DrayMagic claims to have given the Lakers’ SG a reality check. He told Bronny: “Hey man if you’re going to fail on your terms, you know how to play basketball. And some of this time, I’m watching you play and you acting like you don’t know how to play basketball.” Green urged the rookie to do what he does best: play basketball.
He wants Bronny to be fearless and confident in his game. At the same time, Draymond Green doesn’t understand the idea of people hating on the father-son duo. “Bronny and Bron playing together- incredible. It’s insane. Anybody who’s hating on them at all, hate yourselves because there’s absolutely nothing to hate about that,” Green expressed.

But he switched his focus on the rookie because he wanted the best for him. Draymond Green has been around the NBA for over a decade and he knows the ups and downs of the league. Moreover, with four rings and 4 All-Stars tags, Draymond is undoubtedly one of those people who can rightfully advise Bronny James. The 34-year-old NBA veteran further advised, “Don’t fail because you ain’t doing what you know how to do. Yeah, don’t ask for permission.” Simply put, Green wants Bronny to own his failures without asking for permission.

When James Jr. became the 55th pick of 2024, there had been questions and doubts regarding his abilities. There had been rumors that LeBron might have had some influence in having his son in the league. But well, those were just word of mouth and nothing was proven. So, taking this matter and all the criticism the 20-year-old youngster has faced so far, Draymond Green spewed his pent-up frustration. Siding with Bronny, Money Green shared that he enjoyed watching the younger James’ last game against the Dubs where he scored a solid 17 points. Green then stated: “I enjoyed watching it because of the scrutiny that he’s under for the 55th pick. Like, if you go down to an average NBA fan and ask them, ‘Give me the 55th pick of the last 10 years’, they probably can’t get two right.”

Draymond Green’s thoughts really do tingle our minds at this point. He further says: “You don’t hear about the first pick, second pick, or the third… If his name wasn’t LeBron James Jr., they wouldn’t care. They wouldn’t know. And they wouldn’t want to act like ‘Oh man look, he had a bad game’.” Well, Bronny should probably say a thank you to Green for speaking up for him. It’s hard to imagine the kind of pressure the rookie must be going through currently. Especially with the whole “LeBron James’ son” Hubba Bubba.
