Even though Caitlin Clark has only played 15 games so far, her ripple effect of fouling hard is evident even in the NBA Finals. Well, as it turns out, in the second quarter of Game 5 of the Finals, there was a brief scuffle between Kristaps Porzingis and P.J. Washington, just when the Mavs were down 12 points at the 9:23 mark (22-34). Not paying attention to it, the 7’2 Celtics big man got in front of Washington, who, for some reason, didn’t like it.

As it turns out, during a possession, the Celtics star ran down the floor to block a shot but was met with an overly physical Washington in the way. The Dallas Mavericks star also hit him with his elbow before he grabbed him, later pushing him toward the ground. And immediately, we heard a foul coming in. Just a few seconds later we saw Porzingis standing up, with a few arguments, which led to a brief argument between Washington and the Kristaps. This is when ABC started to show a replay of what went down, as we heard Doris Burke hilariously putting the situation out about the fiasco around Caitlin Clark.

She said,  “If that were Caitlin Clark it might spark a debate for a week.”

As emotions were boiling down, this comment brought in chuckles from everyone watching on their television screens. Dorris Burkle was drawing parallels between the whole debacle in the WNBA world surrounding Clark’s treatment by the opposing team and the officials. The hilarity of it was because it was so out of the blue. The scuffle between Porzingis and Washington was broken down in a few seconds when everyone was busy focusing on the game later, which really makes us all wonder about the ‘double standards’ of the WNBA world had it happened in that league. Female athletes are overtly scrutinized as compared to their male counterparts.

So, Burke’s comment here about the physical play and the officiating does make sense.

Be it a shoulder push, a non-ill-intentional shove in a sport that has its fair share of physicality still left, or a flagrant foul from a certain somebody (Angel Reese) who is determined to be WNBA’s ‘Draymond Green’. The media has made it a top priority to make a racial agenda against Clark. Social media too has joined their cause in making the ex-Iowa star the biggest victim in the United States at the moment.

“This is the Jackie Robinson of the WNBA, she [Caitlin Clark] is getting abused!” David Webb of Fox News said (per Daily Beast) in the Sunday night game between Chicago Sky and the Indiana Fever, after a flagrant foul by Reese.

Thanks to Burke, somebody finally called out the flagrancy of it on the biggest stage possible. But what about Caitlin? What does the 22-year-old star have to say about the special treatment she has been receiving?

Caitlin Clark’s opinion about WNBA’s treatment

Clark is not among the ones who will play the victim card at any cost. The Iowa native is not built that way. In fact, she has taken just the opposite route. She has tried to stop the ongoing agenda at every chance she has had.

Recently, before Angel Reese’s viral flagrant foul was blasted all around the media, Caitlin put aside her rivalry to speak for the Chicago Sky star.

“What’s going through my mind? I need to make these two free throws. That’s all I’m thinking about. It’s just part of basketball. It is what it is,” Clark said according to New York Post. “She’s trying to make a play on the ball, and get the block. It happens.”

If it wasn’t for the maturity of Clark, the whole wind of WNBA finally getting what it deserves, would have died at the very beginning. Safe to say the future of the growing league is in safe hands.
