Portland Trail Blazers fans were expecting to see Deandre Ayton play tonight. The Blazers Center has missed the last 11 games due to right knee tendinitis. But the latest injury report showed Ayton’s status as probable for tonight’s game against the Brooklyn Nets. However, the 7-footer got ruled out of tonight’s game because of a bizarre reason.
The NBA World was left in splits as a snowstorm forced the $132 million rich Center to miss another NBA game despite being completely healthy. Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups revealed that Deandre Ayton was fit to play tonight, but he was unable to reach the arena for the game.
Ayton’s path to the Moda Center arena got blocked by a sheet of ice outside his neighborhood. The 7-footer spent hours trying to find a way to clear the path and get to the arena. The Blazers even sent some people out to help Ayton but to no avail. That is the reason for his absence from tonight’s game. This bizarre reason left the fans in splits. One fan said, “Bro gets paid millions to come to work n he lettin a sheet of ice be an excuse.” The NBA World followed suit.

Deandre Ayton’s career has taken a huge hit
Not only are the fans trolling Ayton for this bizarre incident but also because his career has not turned out the way they expected. Ayton was picked first in the 2018 draft by the Phoenix Suns ahead of superstars Luka Doncic and Trae Young. The Center had a decent start to his career and helped the Suns reach the NBA Finals in 2021. But he was never able to elevate his talent to the next level like some of his fellow draft class members. Many believed Ayton’s run to the Finals was a fluke and he was just at the right place at the right time.

Ayton got traded from Phoenix to Portland last summer. He has played only 24 games this season due to injury. Ayton’s productivity has also dropped massively, averaging only 13.1 points and 10.8 rebounds with the Blazers. And his missing a game because of an ice sheet does more harm to his reputation among the fans.
