It only takes a few responses to turn a harmless disagreement into a full-blown spat. At least that’s the case with JJ Redick and Colin Cowherd. With Reddick eyeing the top job as the Head Coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, all are on him. So, Cowherd commented on his appearance saying he looks like a guy who is “going to move my couch,” rather than some vying for a top executive job. However, LeBron James came to his rescue.

King James posted a photo of Jason Kidd, the Dallas Mavericks Head Coach, and Ryan Smith, the Utah Jazz’s owner in a backward hat with the caption, “They have damn good jobs, I believe.” This response had enough spite for Cowherd to continue to train of insults about JJ’s hat. In a recent clip on X, the former ESPN employee says, “Listen, folks, we can’t keep lowering our standards or pretty soon hat on backward becomes flip flops and board shorts to work.”

He continues his onslaught on Bron’s co-host, saying, “I’m sad to say I’m getting a lot of pushbacks on this as LeBron and JJ Reddick lashed out at me.” With the obvious tone of sarcasm, Cowherd uses a clip of sportscaster Nick Right, who responded to this “serious” issue. “I don’t give a sh*t that JJ Reddick was wearing a backward hat at all. I would not hire JJ Redick to be head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers… that he responded to the clip.”
In the end, Cowherd pokes more fun at the situation, saying “To turn your life around, you have to first turn your hat around,” obviously aimed at Reddick.

Can JJ Reddick coach LeBron James next season?

After a tumultuous season that ended in disappointment, the Lakers’ management made the decision to part ways with Darvin Ham. During his two-season tenure as head coach, Ham achieved a record of 90 wins out of 164 games. Notably, he led the Lakers to the Western Conference Finals last season and guided them through the inaugural in-season tournament. However, the Lakers now find themselves shifting focus to the future.

With the head coaching position open, the Lakers are evaluating several candidates, including Mike Budenholzer, Kenny Atkinson, JJ Redick, and potentially Ty Lue. While each brings their own strengths to the table, Redick stands out for his tactical acumen, showcased notably on his podcast “Mind the Game” with LeBron James.

Despite his reputation, Redick lacks NBA coaching experience, making him a risky choice for the Lakers. However, his close relationship with LeBron adds an intriguing dynamic to his candidacy.
