Everyone knows that Doncic’s NBA journey with the Mavs began when he entered the league, and over the six seasons, he made fans believe he was the next in line to the throne once held by franchise legend Dirk Nowitzki.

The spotlight was on Luka Doncic as he answered questions from reporters, but it seemed like a piece of his heart was still in Dallas. Despite the grief, he expressed his excitement to be a Laker. “Today was much better,” he stated. “Very happy to be here for this opportunity is the Lakers. It’s one of the best closing history. So excited to be here.”

Not only that, but he also revealed his conversation with LeBron James immediately after his trade was announced. “He called me right away. He was in New York so he called me right away. And we didn’t talk much because, you know, he said, I understand what you’re feeling,” Doncic said.

The 40-year-old also admitted that he didn’t know about the move beforehand, but once he found out, he made sure to reach out to his new teammate. He let Luka know that he understood his emotions and, in his own way, made him feel welcomed to the Lakers.

LeBron had previously confessed that he wanted to play with Doncic, and now that the reality has come true, the duo will surely give their best to make the most of this golden opportunity. Perhaps all hopes for the Larry O’Brien Trophy aren’t over for the LA side just yet this season.
