There are some players who may not be superstars but play vital roles as winners. Usually, these are the defensive players who are doing the dirty laundry for the team. Roles that the major offensive players may usually shy away from. These defenders can get immense hate and are in the bad books of many fans. However, they internalize such personalities that they are ready to take the heat. Therefore, they aren’t afraid of jawing against major players too. One such player is Dillon Brooks.
As the USA takes on Canada in FIBA for the third-place game, a bunch of USA players share their thoughts on Brooks. They aren’t shying away from his hostile talks.

Will Brooks dish out another LeBron James-like saga?
During the 2023 Playoffs, the Lakers defeated the Grizzlies in the first round as a much lower seed. The series was hotly contested, but more than that, it became famous for Dillon Brooks’ shenanigans.
While guarding LeBron James, the Guard dished out a ton of trash talk and tried to provoke him during many instances. In a post-game interview, when interviewers asked him about his actions toward James, he replied, ”I don’t care, he’s old”.
Remarks like these are becoming the personification of the NBA All-Defensive Second Team player in 2023. However, despite his bold outlook and taking the challenge head-on, the Grizzlies didn’t bring him back. Now he is part of the Rockets after signing a four-year $80 million contract.
Currently, the Rockets guard is a part of the FIBA World Cup and is going to take on the USA for the third-place game. In this vein, his former Grizzlies teammate and defensive All-Star Jaren Jackson Jr. before the game said,”I hope Dillon does trash talk. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be him. It wouldn’t be real.”

Brooks finds mega support
After the loss to Canada, Slovenian phenom and Mavs superstar Luka Doncic also praised the Rockets’ two-way Guard. He had irked the Guard all game long, but in the post-game presser, the incredible player recognized his talent. He stated, ”A lot of people don’t like him, but I respect him for what he does”. These comments mean a lot because the defensive ace has drawn negative attention.
But he doesn’t care about that. If he did, he wouldn’t be thriving in the NBA. He stamped his confidence by recently declaring, ”I am the best perimeter defender in the tournament, in the world, in the NBA!”.
