Nikola Jokic surely has a peculiar personality. The Denver Nuggets star center led his team to their first-ever NBA championship in franchise history. And by the looks of it, he did so by putting in barely any work compared to the rest of the stars in the league. Well, at least, that is what he chose to say to the media.

Nikola Jokic’s demeanor towards basketball is quite different from others. And due to his unusual take on the game, this New Orleans Pelicans’ star does not believe that the Finals MVP would ever dip his toe in coaching in the future.

Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets went all the way last season to win their first-ever NBA championship. The team managed to take down some big names in the Western Conference before making it to the NBA Finals.

And after winning his first-ever NBA championship, Nikola Jokic’s entire take on him winning was unexpected. Usually, players are emotional and ecstatic after winning it all. But not Jokic.

Jokic had more of a ‘don’t really care much’ approach to everything, which fans came to love as well. However, that has led Pelicans’ star CJ McCollum to believe that Jokic would never go into coaching.

During the latest episode of the CJ McCollum Show, the All-Star guard said, “Joker would never be a coach.” He went on to add, “He doesn’t watch basketball at all. I couldn’t imagine him watching film on an off day.”

However, McCollum did not mean that in terms of disrespecting him. He did go on to call Jokic a ‘Savant’ at the game, crediting him for his game and IQ.

Does Jokic have what it takes to be a coach?

Many NBA players transition from playing in the NBA to being a coach in their post-playing days. A lot of the players still have that love for the game that they cannot stay away from basketball.

But in the past, the majority of the players who have taken up coaching have mostly been point guards. Point guards have the responsibility to learn, memorize, and run the entire team’s offense.

They are responsible for delivering the ball to the right player at the right time and at the exact right position on the court. Hence, they tend to make good coaches once they choose to transition from playing to coaching.

So, if Jokic does choose to take up coaching in the future, it would be interesting to see how that would turn out.
