One of the most shocking trades of this offseason is of Jordan Poole. Leaving the hiccups in the 2023 postseason aside, he proved himself to be a strong contender for the Dubs. Despite his ability, Poole lost his place in the roster to Chris Paul during the offseason trade. On the other hand, Draymond Green cracked a fresh $100 million 4-year-contract with the team. Notably, all these proceedings happened after Golden State Warriors‘ new GM, Mike Dunleavy Jr. stepped in. Moreover, he recently revealed the reason behind shocking Poole Party exit.
After spending over a decade as the GM of the Warriors, Bob Myers stepped down in May. When questions were raised to find the right person to fill in the big shoe, Dunleavy took over the office. During the first week of his job, he traded out Poole to the Washington Wizard for the veteran point guard. Days after that DrayMagic signed a whopping four-year extension.
Did the fresh Draymond Green contract cost Poole’s place in the roster?

To set the context, Draymond Green and Jordan Poole had one of the coldest relationships in the last season. Ahead of the 2022-23 season, a videoclip of Green landing a punch on Poole in the practice facility surfaced the internet. Since then, the duo became a topic of discussion whenever their paths cross. And it crossed often because of their commitments to the franchise. Moreover, as a full stop to all this controversy, Poole found his way out of the team.
While there were a lot of speculations surrounding Poole exit, Dunleavy silenced the noise with a shocking update. In an interview with TheAthletic.com, he revealed the reasons behind the Poole trade. “We needed to get Draymond back… That matters,” he said. “So we prioritized that. And from there, we knew… another contract probably needed to be moved. And Jordan ended up being that one.”
Fans however felt the treatment toward Jordan Poole as unfair. Furthermore, an year after the punching incident, Green doesn’t seem to be guilty of his action.
Green is not guilty of his act
In his podcast show, The Draymond Green show, the 4x NBA Champion joined in for a conversation with Patrick Beverly. During that conversation he opened up about the punching incident and justified his act.

He said, “I don’t just hit people. Dialogue of course happens over time. And you usually ain’t just triggered by something like…You know, we know stuff that you don’t say amongst men…”
Notably, Green faced backlashes for his comments on social media.
