With the Paris Olympics in full swing, the focus has moved slightly away from the NBA trades and free agency. That means it is now easier to forget the teams who already slipped under the radar following some big money moves in the Western Conference. One such team surely is the Memphis Grizzlies who are somewhat overlooked in the stacked west. But people need to be reminded of Ja Morant. Teams need to fear Ja Morant. And that’s what they should do, says Morant’s agent.

After his lengthy suspension over the controversial g-n flashing incident, Morant returned to the court in December, ironically with a bang. But the good times did not last as Morant picked up a season-ending shoulder injury earlier this year. The Grizzlies faded away from the playoff race and so did Morant in fans’ memory. But he will remind them again why he is the most unguardable player in the league. His agent certainly believes so.

During the latest episode of The OGs Show, Shams Charania sat with Ja’s agent, Mike Miller. The Athletics reporter asked him about Morant’s summer and prep ahead of the 24/25 season. Without mincing his word, Miller sent out words of warning for the Western Conference and said, “I’m telling you guys right now, Ja Morant is coming for all the work this year.” He further added, “All of it. How soon they forget man. How soon they forget, That’s all I’ll say. He’s ’bout to come for it.”

In the 9 games he played last season, Morant left his mark by averaging 25.1 points from 47.1% shooting. His injury was detrimental to the Grizzlies playoff aspirations. Not only he, but the whole of the Memphis first team suffered various injuries throughout the season. So on a franchise level, the next season will be a season to prove and they are already making moves to make sure of it.

Grizzlies make $11 million decision to strengthen Ja Morant support cast

The two-time NBA All-Star needs a compact crew around him for the Grizzlies to make a playoff push. Keeping that in mind, the front office made a decision that broke Morant’s heart recently but the reason for that became clear on Tuesday. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Grizzlies have re-signed free-agent Luke Kennard. The guard penned a one-year, $11 million contract to stay in Memphis, significantly boosting the Grizzlies’ shooting ammunition.

Kennard was one of the players who were affected by injury last season. But still in 39 outings, Kennard scored 11 points per game from a career-high 44.8% shooting with a 45% 3-pts shooting. His elite-level movement and shooting effectively spaces the floor to Morant to work into and that’s why Memphis made it a priority to retain Kennard. The Grizzlies are yet a bit way off from being a contending team but with Ja Morant fit a deep playoff run cannot be ruled out just yet.
