The Bay Area’s favorite Stephen Curry will continue with the franchisee till the 2026-2027 season. One year extension also means that he broke the record of earnings in a single season as he became the first American athlete ever from all major sports leagues, to earn $60 million in a single season. The $62.6 million contract undoubtedly makes him the highest-paid player for the upcoming season.
For the past few years, the Golden State Warriors superstar star has dominated the list of the highest-earning players. He topped the list last year as only four other players earned more than $50 million per year. Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokić were joint second with $51,415,938 and Bradley Beal was in the fourth position with $50,203,930. However, Curry’s overall NBA salary makes his total to $354,721,977.

Picked 7th in the draft by the Warriors, Curry signed a 4-year contract for $12,700,262. Before signing his extension in 2012, he was offered to Bucks, but owing to his ankle problems, the deal was canceled. Then prior to the 2012 season, he signed a 4 year extension which many considered a risk again because of his injury history.
The contract was worth $44,000,000, and things started to turn around for Stephen Curry. Winning the championship and winning the MVP twice justified his upcoming contract. He became the first NBA player to sign a supermax contract worth over $200 million as he agreed to a 5-year deal in 2017 for a hefty contract of $201,158,790.
After adding two more championships to his resume, Stephen Curry made history with another lucrative contract involving a four-year extension and signing his second over $200 million deal worth $215,353,664. His agent Jeff Austin detailed the breakdown of each year of his new contract where Curry earned $48 million for the 2022-23 season, then $51.9 million for the 2023-24 season, $55.7 million for the 2024-25 season, and $59.6 million in the final year of the deal.
Curry’s new contract means that he surpassed over $500 million in NBA career earnings. In the list are his fellow Gold-winning Olympic teammates LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Further, the current extension would mean that the 4x NBA champion will be 38 by the time he gets there, and the Over 38 rule in the CBA limits teams from handing out contracts that last four or more years for athletes of the age of 38 or above. Apart from his NBA earnings, Curry has amassed his net worth from various endorsement deals as well.
