That is why Williams? observation was more important because other Mavericks players were also suffering from similar issues. Brian Windhorst, on a podcast, talked about the problem that had to be dealt with and no longer be ignored. This was a revelation that there was something very wrong with the court?s three-point line.
It started as a simple practice session but ended up with an investigation.
The Denver Nuggets, the opposing team, did not practice on that court on that day at all. They opted to practice on a different stadium floor. The Mavericks, spearheaded by Grant, took the issue into their own hands. They picked up a measuring tape and found out that a three-point line on the new court was located excessively behind. This precision issue could result in a possible unfair benefit for the opponent?s side.
Mavericks would not allow the in-season tournament to start in such a disreputable manner and this would spoil the image of the league. Immediately they informed the authority, and a rush repainted the three-point line on the court. It was a matter of urgency, but Grant Williams and his teammate quickly identified the problem before the tournament began.
