His body was discovered at the entrance of one of the high-rise buildings in the Russian capital. However, police have ruled out any foul play or criminal acts involved.
As per reports, it is believed that Timma died by suicide. This tragic news comes mere months after the player’s ex-wife, Ukrainian singer and actress Anna Sedokova filed for divorce. Regardless of the reason, the world lost an amazing basketball player today. Although he was drafted by the Grizzlies eleven years ago, he never played in an NBA game. However, he did get a chance to play in the Summer League three years ago, representing the Orlando Magic. Moreover, Janis had a solid career overseas. Of course, he was an integral part of the Latvian national team for several years. Adding to that, he played sixteen seasons as a pro baller, suiting up for teams including Olympiacos, Baskonia, Khimki, and more. He also bagged the MVP honors in the Baltic Basketball League. A real hooper indeed.
Surely, the hoop community will forever remember Janis Timma’s contribution to the game and the person he was on and off the court.
