The NBA preseason is in full swing. While the season opener was played between the Dallas Mavericks and the Minnesota Timberwolves in Abu Dhabi on October 5th, the action will kick-start in the USA on October 7th. The day promises to be an exciting one, as the Mavs and Timberwolves will take on each other again tonight. Simultaneously, LeBron James’ Lakers will be locking horns with Stephen Curry‘s Warriors at the Chase Center in San Francisco.

The Dubs will be looking for vengeance in the preseason game after the Lakers ended their playoff run last spring. The Showtime Lakers swept the Warriors in Game 6 of the second round of the Western Conference before being dispatched by the reigning champions, Denver Nuggets. However, it looks like Stephen Curry eclipsed LeBron James just hours before the thrilling matchup.

With the NBA in Abu Dhabi right now to expand its popularity beyond the borders, the official NBA account of the Gulf Country asked its young fans who their favorite players were. While children made their pick for legendary players like Jordan and Kobe, it looks like Curry surpassed even the basketball greats in terms of popularity. In doing so, he also outshined LeBron James, who has been the face of the league for over two decades. Chef Curry overpowered King James by just one vote.

While many fans expected a thrilling matchup between James and Curry in today’s game, it looks like their wait would continue. Much to their dismay, the Akron Hammer will be sitting out today’s matchup. Despite LeBron James not playing, the game promises to be an exciting one as the fans get to witness CP3 playing in the Warriors jersey for the very first time.

What to expect from the preseason opener?

Chris Paul will be joining Splash Brothers Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson against Anthony Davis. Warriors defensive menace Draymond Green is also sidelined due to an injury. In addition to King James, the storied Purple and Gold team will also be without Austin Reaves in the evening contest. But there is much to look forward to since both teams have made significant adjustments to their rosters.
