As a prelude to the 2023 FIBA World Cup, national teams often participate in games against each other in order to build team chemistry. In their first prep game, Team USA cinched a 117-74 point win over Puerto Rico. However, this Minnesota Timberwolves‘ first-overall pick (2020) stunned the NBA world with his stellar performance on the court.?

The 22-year-old led the team to victory with 15 points. Despite a few hiccups, still early in his career, with the league; the novice player made an impression on the one and only, Stephen Curry.?

Anthony Edwards’s slight hiccup with the league

Anthony Edwards, or NBA?s Ant-man, is rightly nicknamed, for like the Marvel hero, he too is unstoppable. However, the 22-year-old was not prepared to get reprimanded so early in his career. After his team, Minnesota Timberwolves, got eliminated from the playoffs last season, the athlete flared up.?

He recklessly flung a chair in frustration that unfortunately hit two innocent bystanders. The league?s Vice president, Joe Dumars, gave Edwards a slap on the wrist and fined his $50,000 for this unbecoming behavior. While Stephen Curry loves to see passion on the court, he wasn?t exactly impressed by this little stunt of Edwards.?

Ant-Man has got a fan for life

Instead, it was the Ant-man?s dexterity on the court that made him a fan of Edwards. In a recent interview with Complex Sports, Curry opened up about Anthony Edwards? skills on the court. Because Edwards is also a Curry-Camp athlete, ‘Threezus’ had a front-seat view of his prowess on the court.?

When asked, ?Which Curry Camp Alum did you know would be special?? Curry had one definite answer. He said, ?Ant Edwards for sure. He just had a different demeanor and different competitive, you know, presence out there.? Steph Curry also mentioned how well Edwards had done at the camp’s showcase game. The Golden State Warriors MVP reiterated, ?there were plays that he [Anthony Edwards] made and nobody else really could.??

Stephen Curry is convinced that Edwards is a perennial All-Star in the making, after earning his first call-up in the 2022-2023 season. In fact, Curry believes that he’s not alone. Anyone who has seen Edwards play would think of him as an elite baller. The Ant-Man?s got the nod from the league’s golden boy. Does this get better than this? We think not.?
