Chris Broussard had almost cost him his job earlier on FS1’s “First Things First”. Talking about the James Harden trade, like many others, Broussard seems to be a little too emotionally invested. No other explanation seems plausible for the veteran sports analyst to lose his cool on National Television. Whatever prompted his outburst, within seconds of Nick Wright pointing it out, Broussard apologized.

The Harden saga’s climax was more or less anticlimactic. The Beard got his wish and the Sixers aren’t worse for the wear. Yet! But that’s a topic for another day. Within hours of his “retarded” comment, Chris Broussard is back with his wholehearted (somewhat) support of the Clippers.

In their ‘The Odd Couple Podcast with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker’, the duo take on the Clippers’ power position. Broussard’s opinion on the Clippers acquiring James Harden in the podcast makes it seem like it was a different person on the FS1 show.

He says, “They’re in the hunt. I like them better than the Lakers.” See?

Broussard goes on to say that the Lakers haven’t impressed him yet. To rank the Clippers just behind the Nuggets, a few hours after calling Harden, “retarded”, and a day after the Clippers got him, is polarizing, to say the least.

But his comment about the Clippers being ready for the hunt is not exaggerated. With Harden’s arrival and their star duo also in full health, this season should be the ONE. So, let’s take a look at what The Beard can help the team with.

James Harden can very well be the player that takes them over the edge

If they can all be on the same page. Ideally, it should not be an issue, but this is Harden we are talking about. With fans already pointing out a few discrepancies, we can only hope. But if all things go well, we will probably be the witnesses to the next historic season in the history of the NBA.

When the Clippers signed Kawhi and Paul, they were hoping to water their drought-filled title dreams. The barren land could have become fruitful if it weren’t for the regular injuries that plagued their two best players. There is only so much Harden’s best buddy, Westbrook can do. But this season has all the chess pieces in place. All that’s left is to make the moves.

Even with all the problems Harden has caused, his lowest number of games played is 58. As opposed to Leonard and George, who haven’t played at least 60 games in a season since joining LA. From the title standpoint, the Clippers have to win 11 of its 16 games to be named the 5th seed. With Harden sharing the scoring load, Westbrook can also take a breather.
