Is Draymond Green's lack of remorse a sign of confidence or a disregard for sportsmanship?

Netflix released its most awaited sports docu-series, Starting 5 on Wednesday, with many juicy details coming out. It’s like a can of worms getting open, and one such peculiar behind-the-scenes detail comes from Domantas Sabonis’ wife. Being one of the focal points of the third episode, the Draymond Green-Sabonis feud, leading to the violent stomping, was talked about, leaving the latter’s wife horrified.

7 months pregnant, Rosen Sabonis went through a rather tough time with this incident, even as Sabonis slid away. In the docu-series, she said, “I was horrified. I just remember, like, shaking, thinking I was gonna give birth,” said Rosen. She continued, “I just see them put a towel over my husband’s head, and I was like done. So it was like personally, it was not enjoyable.”

Everything happened during Game 2 of the 2023 Western Conference first round, around the 7th-minute mark, where Draymond Green and Sabonis were battling the boards. Suddenly, Sabonis fell on the floor, and Green got tangled up along with him. As Green tried to untangle himself from this situation, he suddenly stepped on Sabonis’ chest. The aftermath of this also included Sabonis getting on the injury list as “questionable” for Game 3, all thanks to his bruised sternum.

The Warriors star was later ejected from this game, with the officials calling it a flagrant foul 2. Sabonis’ team, the Kings, later won the game. Plus, Green also faced suspension for Game 3 after this. Moreover, in the official release, the league stated that “The suspension was based in part on Green’s history of unsportsmanlike acts.”

This sequence of events added to their feud, leading everyone to believe they despise each other.

Considering the gravity of the situation, any wife would be left “horrified” looking at what’s happening to their beloved husband. Even as Sabonis slid away saying he had “no hard feelings”, Green didn’t seem to be guilty of the incident. He had his own twist on the situation.

Speaking to the media after the incident, Green stated his perspective, saying, “I got to land my foot somewhere, and I’m not the most flexible person, so it’s not stretching that far. … I can only step so far with someone pulling my leg away.” And, also blamed the refs for not making any call when his leg was grabbed.

Unfortunately, Green’s absence in the remainder of the fourth quarter cost the game for the Dubs. However, the series took a drastic turn when the Dubs forced Game 7. And, Stephen Curry showed up with 50 points and 8 rebounds to guide the team to the Conference semi-finals. Nevertheless, one thing remained common after that: Green’s violent on-court antics. But the star seemed to have learned a lesson after his latest indefinite suspension. Do you think Draymond Green will stay away from suspension trouble this season? Let us know in the comments.
