The Warriors just went through a major shakeup with the blockbuster Jimmy Butler move. But while Andrew Wiggins and Kyle Anderson became victims of the NBA uncertainty, one player has managed to hold onto his spot on the roster despite countless trade rumors. Jonathan Kuminga! Yes, Mike Dunleavy has been reluctant to part ways with the young forward to potentially secure the franchise’s future. But Dub Nation is beginning to lose its cool with Kuminga as his return from injury is taking much longer than expected.
Well, JK has not played in an NBA game since early January. The reason? A right ankle sprain he suffered during the Grizzlies clash. And latest reports reveal that he was recently re-evaluated, which showed he is making good progress. Kuminga has even begun on-court workouts. But he will not be returning before the upcoming All-Star break.
Turns out, he will be incorporated into team practices once the break is over, along with another re-evaluation in ten days. So, JK is not expected to suit up for a game anytime soon. In a concerning update about Kuminga’s health, Steve Kerr even said ahead of tonight’s Bucks game, “I wouldn’t anticipate him playing those first few games right after the break.”

Obviously, Kuminga’s absence has been a huge blow to the team as he was in incredible form before the injury, averaging 16.8 points and five rebounds. Without him, the Bay Area franchise has fallen to the eleventh seed in the West standings and struggling to regain momentum. As expected, fans are starting to lose patience.
Jonathan Kuminga faces Major Accusations after Injury Update as Fans urge him to “Kum Back”
Soon after the news of JK’s delayed return emerged, enraged fans expressed their frustration as comments like “Bro holding the Warriors hostage post Jimmy Butler trade is wild” and “This taking so damn long it almost feels fake” began flooding in. Well, Kuminga has been involved in multiple trade speculations since last summer. As per reports, the reluctance of trading him was a major reason the Lauri Markkanen, Cameron Johnson, and Paul George pursuits failed.

Now, the Warriors have no option but to keep Kuminga until the end of this season as he continues to recover from injury. Obviously, Dub Nation is worried about his slow recovery as one netizen wrote, “Must be a high ankle sprain cause he been out for hella long” while another said, “Dude has weak ankles lol.” Of course, being out for nearly two months with an ankle sprain is concerning.

Moreover, fans want to see JK back on the court helping his team rise to title contention, “Kum back. We need you big dawg.” With Kuminga in the lineup, the Warriors can turn things around as he becomes their third scorer behind Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler. As per reports, he could return as soon as February 21, when the Warriors are scheduled to face the Kings. Hopefully that’s the case because the longer Kuminga remains out, the more calls will continue to mount against him. What are your thoughts?
