Tensions were at an all-time high between Boston and Indiana. With their season on the line, the Pacers took to the floor with high energy and also had a physical approach against the visiting team. That led to a heated shoving between Myles Turner and Jaylen Brown during the third quarter. After the Celtics swept the Pacers on their home court, JB addressed the brawl, and made an unexpected admission on Turner “losing body control”.

Despite being a year younger than Turner, Brown addressed him as a “kid”, saying, “Myles is a good kid. Let’s start with that. Throughout the series, he loses control of his body a little bit… I was just letting him know, ‘Just watch it’… He feels like he’s at home, his family is watching. His girl is probably watching, and he had to do something. I’ve known Myles a long time… It’s all love.”

During the play that led to the altercation, Myles saw an opportunity to get easy points inside the paint when Derrick White switched on him. First, the Center got to his position by bumping into White’s chest. Then, he continued with another hard shoulder tackle to the 6’4 guard, which led to White falling back first onto the floor.

The referee saw the illegal contact and called an offensive foul on Myles Turner. But as the Center was walking away, Jaylen Brown walked toward him and slightly shoved him. In retaliation, Myles turned around and pushed Brown to the stands as their teammates approached to stop the matter from escalating.

However, the play led to both players getting a technical foul while the offensive foul on Turner still remained intact. Brown believes Turner was just riled up because he felt like he had to take some action on his home court. Although there was all love between the two stars post-game, it’s uncertain how Turner will take being called a “kid”.

Jaylen Brown gets the last laugh

While Jaylen Brown was called for a technical foul after shoving Turner, the rest of the night for him was an absolute dream. Scoring 29 points in tonight’s win, he was again the top scorer on his team. Because of his epic performances against Indiana in all four games, he was named the Eastern Conference Finals MVP at the end of the night.

In this series, he was clearly the best player on the floor, averaging nearly 30 points. From his game-tying three-pointer in the first game to his forty-point outing in the next one, this series was a memorable one for Jaylen.

More importantly, the MVP win will give him a lot of comfort after he got snubbed from the All-NBA team just a few days ago. But the job is not done for him and the Celtics. While they have conquered the East, there is still one more series left to win to reach the mountaintop. And although Brown was happy to lift the MVP trophy, he was focused on the task at hand. “Now, we wanna take it to the next step.”
