Late last season, the Mavs traded Spencer Dinwiddie to the Nets, while acquiring ?Kyrie Irving. In a recent interview, the veteran point guard opened up about his time in the league. Although he spoke extensively about a wide range of subjects, his comments about Luka are particularly interesting.
When asked about Donicic’s career trajectory, Dinwiddie said,” Luka Doncic is one of the most special players on the planet and one of the most special players in history. He?s going to be able to have whatever type of career he wants.”?However, he elaborates further noting, ” If his stepback three is working, there?s virtually no way to guard him. What you?re hoping for is that he settles for stepback threes, and it?s just one of those nights where he isn?t on. He?s a good shooter, but he?s not?Stephen Curry.”
The 24-year-old is only hours away from facing his hyped rival, Victor Wembanyama. Although his appearance still remains in question in an eagerly anticipated match-up.

Luka Doncic is impressed with Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama, the NBA’s latest European sensation, and is looking forward to facing him in his debut.” It’s pretty crazy what he does on the court,” Doncic said. He further added, “What’s he — 2 meters [tall]? Oh, 7-4? No, the things he does for that length, it’s unbelievable the way he moves, the way he handles the ball, shoots the ball, and obviously the blocking. So, I’ve been watching, and he’s an amazing player.”
Doncic is questionable for the Mavs’ season opener in San Antonio due to a left calf strain he suffered in practice on October 9 in Madrid, but he has been back at practice for the past two days.
