Are the Bucks squandering Giannis' prime years with their lackluster support and performance?

It was the Giannis Antetokounmpo show in Milwaukee tonight. The Bucks headed into tonight’s game extremely shorthanded with Damian Lillard and other key players out due to injury. And they were desperately looking for a win after losing eight of their first eleven games. Sure enough, Giannis took matter into his own hands and pulled off this season’s best scoring performance in a hard-fought battle against the Pistons. But amid his scoring outburst, fans were concerned that the Bucks might be wasting the prime years of The Greek Freak’s career.

Yes, he set the tone early and dropped 22 points in the opening quarter. But his teammates were not able to play with the same energy and contributed only two points in the first twelve minutes. Obviously, the Bucks were not able to capitalize despite the dominant start as they got outscored by three points in the first quarter.

And there was also a point when the Bucks were down by 18 points and it looked like they might be heading toward another loss. Fortunately, Giannis never took his foot off the gas and singlehandedly muscled a comeback to force overtime. Then, he scored 11 of his team’s sixteen points in the added minutes and led his team to victory. Sure enough, he finished the night with 59 points. No player has scored more this season.

After seeing Giannis do most of the work tonight, comments like “GET HIM SUM HELP OR TRADE HIMMM” and “It took 59 to beat the pistons in overtime 😭 GET HIM SOME HELP” began flooding in. Yes, despite Giannis averaging 30.7 points, his team is struggling to win games. And although he bailed them out tonight with his historic performance, they will need more consistency from the rest of the squad to become legitimate title contenders.
