When he left the Warriors in 2019, the team had the Finals to the Kawhi Leonard-led Toronto Raptors. KD missed all but 12 minutes in the series. He had hurt his Achilles Tendon and had exited Game 5 with a lot of pain. After the season ended, he asked out of the Warriors, mirroring the echoes after his Thunder exit in 2016.
These constant exits have not sat well, with a huge portion of the NBA fanbase including renowned analysts. His image as a “villain”, as a metaphorical snake, has played a role in his current characterization. His former teammate Stephen Curry has talked about his “misunderstood” personality.

The Guard continues, “It was his own decision. I made sure I was available and open about it. At the end of the day, it was his decision to leave. I didn’t have any resentment on that front.”.
