LeBron James stirred some rumors after his actions in the last game against the New York Knicks. LeBron dominated the in-form Knicks on Saturday and beat them at home 113-105. He led the Lakers in scoring with 24 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds. But it was what LeBron did after the game that caught everyone’s attention. King James did his post-game interview with a Knicks towel around his neck, covering his Lakers uniform. Many believed that was a message from LeBron about his interest in joining the Knicks.

However, analyst Chris Broussard believes LeBron’s towel incident was just a coincidence and had no hidden meaning. He brought forth the fact that every player gets the same towel when they play at Madison Square Garden. LeBron’s teammate Taurean Prince also had a similar Knicks towel on his shoulder during his post-game interview. However, Broussard did not completely deny the possibility and revealed a 14-year-old incident from LeBron’s first free agency in 2010 to make his point. “He (LeBron James) did like the drama surrounding the thought that I might go to New York,” Broussard said.

Before LeBron made the decision and took his talents to South Beach, there were many rumors about him possibly joining the Knicks. LeBron addressed those rumors the last time he played at MSG before his 2010 free agency. After a dominant 33-point performance in the Cavs win, the Kid from Akron said, “As a competitor and a guy that knows history, you would love to play here.” Broussard claimed LeBron liked it being out there that he could join the Knicks.

Will the Lakers trade LeBron James?

LeBron has found himself in the trade rumors this season despite his superstar status. The Lakers are stuck at the 9th spot in the Western Conference standings and need a roster change to turn their season around. With the February 8 deadline only 3 days away, Rob Pelinka could consider trading away LeBron while he is still playing at an elite level. LeBron is 39 years old and playing in his 21st season. That means his athleticism and endurance will continue to decline with each season.

LeBron has been a Laker for 6 years, and it might be time for Rob Pelinka to see what the Lakers would look like without him. He is still averaging 24.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.6 assists at age 39. And Pelinka could get many assets to build the Lakers’ future in exchange for LeBron. In that case, the New York Knicks could be the perfect destination for LeBron because of the franchise’s storied history.
