The Atlanta Hawks fans clasped for air as Trae Young walked out with eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Well, its bad news for Atlanta as it seems like Young has entered the NBA concussion protocol according to the latest updates. It is detrimental to Atlanta as the two-time all-star has only been sidelined twice this season and now this latest development might have to go on with no definite timeline.

In a post of X (formerly known as Twitter), Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed its writing, “Atlanta has placed Trae Young in the league’s concussion protocol.”

In the game against Cleveland, Young sustained the injury when defending against Isaac Okoro, who was driving to the lane and executed a euro step. Despite attempting to take charge, Young collided with the opponent. During Okoro’s jump, his elbow made contact with Young’s face, causing him to stay on the floor for a period before heading to the locker room. The star guard for the Hawks did not rejoin the game and will be sidelined indefinitely.

This season, Young has been delivering an impressive performance with averages of 26.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 10.8 assists. Despite his All-Star-level contributions, the Atlanta Hawks find themselves in 10th place in the Eastern Conference with an 18-24 record. The timing of Young’s injury is unfortunate for the Hawks, especially considering the busy stretch in their schedule ahead. With games scheduled every other day for the next week and a half, they will face teams like the Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks, and LA Lakers.

The main question that arises now is amid such a solid season from the two-time all-star who will take his place? The logical answer is Dejounte Murray, but with trade rumors surrounding him, things seem a lot more uncertain for the Hawks.

Will Dejounte Murray replace Trae Young or be traded?

Dejounte Murray is generating significant buzz in the trade rumors, being recognized as one of the NBA’s top playmakers and defenders. Despite being under contract for the next four seasons at a relatively low rate of $114.1 million, many acknowledge his elite skills. While the Miami Heat are reportedly eyeing superstars like Donovan Mitchell, they shouldn’t overlook Murray as a potential addition.

Acquiring the Atlanta Hawks’ guard could involve offering Duncan Robinson and, potentially, a first-round pick. Jimmy Butler has praised Murray, especially after the game-winning three-pointer the other night vs the Heat, calling him an “All-Star” and a “stellar point guard”. With Kyle Lowry in the final year of his contract, the Heat might see Murray as a valuable addition for both the present and the future. How soon do you think Young will return? Will Murray be traded?
