In the world of professional sports, players often get traded away by their teams for their benefit. Now that trade either ends on good terms or causes a rivalry between the athlete and his former team. In the case of Dejounte Murray, he claims that he wanted the trade to the Hawks and was happy about it. So after a year of this trade, Murray was asked about his experience with the Spurs in an interview.
Not only that, they even asked him about the rising star of the Spurs, Victor Wembanyama. Murray spoke about the inner workings of the club, his growth and even gave his opinion about the 7-foot giant.

Dejounte Murray spoke in an exclusive interview about Victor Wembanyama and how has he been performing this season. He said, “He’s talented. He’s young, talented, a hard worker. They say he’s a real professional, he gets his rest, and he’s not out partying”. He further went on to praise the Spurs and hit them with a subtle jab by saying, “He really wants to be great, and he’s with a great organization. I think they should be lucky to have somebody like that as well”.

Murray even went on to speak about his time with Spurs and gave them a lot of credit. He said that during his tenure with the Spurs, he transformed both, personally as well as professionally. His experience transformed him from a young athlete to a seasoned player as this franchise managed to inculcate the values of discipline and hard work into him. However, his experience was not all hunky-dory as he faced a set of challenges due to the “Spurs Way”.
When he made an appearance on the All Smoke podcast, Murray spoke about his difficulties with the franchise. He spoke about how they started giving priority to other players they were bringing into the team and were playing “mind games” with him to see if he “breaks” or not. He was a part of the Spurs for 6 years and he was loyal to his club, but due to what happened with him, he says that he went through a lot with them. However, his recent performances with the Hawks have proved that this move has affected him in a positive way.
How has Murray being performing with the Hawks this season?
Dejounte Murray has made a stunning development in the current NBA season, displaying an extraordinary level of performance. Not only is that aiding his team, but that has also driven him to new career levels. He has emerged as a powerful force for the Atlanta Hawks, averaging 19.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game.

What distinguishes him this season is his excellent shooting ability, as seen by a career-high 39.1 percent accuracy from outside the arc and an incredible 53.5 percent accuracy from within it. While he speak about all the positives and negatives of his former team and applaud Wemby, Murray is on his own path to make a name for himself in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks.
