When we consider Luka Doncic, he doesn’t straightaway come off as a dominant player on-court. He isn’t the most athletic, but can use his powers and basketball intelligence to overpower his opponents. It is through his exceptional skills that he has quickly risen up the ranks to attain superstardom. Although he is just 6’7″, he boasts an impressive 7-foot wingspan. The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the league’s elite forces.
Even though the Slovenian player’s FIBA run with Team Slovenia ended in dismay, he was instrumental in propelling the team to the quarterfinals. His skills garnered high praise from fans, athletes, and analysts. Joining them was the 44yo NBA coach, who ditched the Dallas Mavericks for the Orlando Magic.

Orlando Magic coach Jamahl Mosley recently joined Michael Scotto of the HoopsHype to discuss the fate of the various NBA stars. One name to come up in the conversation was Dallas Mavericks’ point guard Luka Doncic. When asked about the Slovenian phenom’s future 15 years down the line, the Mavs ex-coach shared high praise for the young superstar. Because Luka joined when Mosley was still an assistant coach on the team, he witnessed Luka’s Magic first-hand. “Luka observes everything, not just on the court, but how you conduct yourself off the court and carry yourself. The first time you saw it was in pickup games. We had runs in the summer. Luka came in after winning it all overseas. He was tired because he was playing nonstop, but he picked up right where he left off”, said the Orlando Magic’s head coach.
Mosley continued, “Some of his passes he made you?re seeing now, but it?s always been his natural instinct. He loves to play the game and loves being around his teammates. There?s a joy he plays with. That stood out more than anything. The talent level, he sees things other people can?t see. He?s always creating the game, he?s an artist in that way. He helps other guys be better.”

Jamahl Mosley’s stint with the Dallas Mavericks
After spending seven seasons with the Dallas Mavericks as an assistant coach, Mosley became the Orlando Magic’s 15th head coach in 2021. After he took over, the Magic saw a 12-game improvement compared to the previous season. The improvement in the 2022-23 campaign was considered to be the best in the Eastern Conference and the third-best in the league. Even during his tenure as the assistant coach in the Mavs, the team reached the playoffs four times. He served as an acting head coach in 2021 after Rick Carlisle had tested positive for coronavirus. During that stint, he led the Mavs to a 99?86 victory over the New York Knicks. Given his accomplishments, he was named the 2023 USA Men?s Select Team head coach.
