James Harden has made it clear that he does not want to suit up for the Philadelphia 76ers this season. Harden requested a trade this summer, but the Sixers could not find a satisfactory offer to facilitate his demand. That led to a fallout between Harden and the Sixers’ President Daryl Morey. Following the summer drama, Harden decided to take matters into his own hands and missed the Sixers’ practice and all the preseason games.

The Clippers and the 76ers have been in constant talks about trading Harden to LA. The two parties almost reached an agreement, but Harden got a harsh ?wake-up call? after the Clippers picked Terance Mann over the former MVP.

It seemed like the James Harden trade saga would finally be over. The 76ers front office asked the Clippers for one first-round swap, one unprotected first-round pick, and backup guard Terance Mann, in exchange for Harden. But the Clippers halted the discussion and made it clear that they would not give up Terance Mann for Harden. After the Clippers refused to part ways with their backup guard, NBA analyst Nick Wright gave The Beard a harsh reality check, ?This should be a wake-up call for James Harden.?

The Clippers? decision to pick Mann over Harden led Daryl Morey to believe they were not serious about acquiring the former MVP. Terance Mann is a role player for the Clippers and is a career 8-point scorer. On the other hand, James Harden is a former MVP and one of the best point guards in the league. So, Harden has to analyze what he is doing wrong that the Clippers are not ready to give up a role player to acquire him. The reason could be the drama surrounding Harden or just the Clippers? aging roster.

Why did the Clippers pick Terance Mann over James Harden?

The Los Angeles Clippers have an aging roster. They are the second oldest team in the league, with players like Kawhi Leonard, Russell Westbrook, and Paul George either in or past their prime. Acquiring 34-year-old James Harden, who is past his prime, would only add to their problems in the future. Both Paul George and Kawhi Leonard will soon become free agents and that will hamper the Clippers future as they do not have many young players.

So, the Clippers want to keep 27-year-old Terance Mann on their roster even though he is a backup guard. Mann has a bright future ahead, and the Clippers perform better when he is on the court. James Harden is trying hard to force his way out of Philadelphia, but it will backfire on him if he has no place left to go.
