After beating the Portland Trail Blazers 118–114 in a thriller, the Golden State Warriors recorded consecutive wins for the first time since early November. The team’s tenacity was impressive, but the light shone on Andrew Wiggins, who had just recently been sent to the bench by Coach Kerr. The demotion was a reaction to Wiggins’ woes, which turned into a surprising start for rookie Brandin Podziemski.

But in the last two games, Wiggins has not only shown what he’s got but also helped stage a comeback that could completely change his place within the starting five.

Kerr’s Support Amidst Setbacks: A Coach’s Faith in Wiggins

While Wiggins was relegated to a bench role, Warriors coach Steve Kerr made it clear that he remains in the player’s corner. Kerr recognized the difficulty Wiggins faced, as he’s never been a typical designated substitute. Back-to-back losses against the Los Angeles Clippers,  Kerr sympathized, saying, It’s not easy for him,” emphasizing the player’s character and expressing belief in his abilities.

Against the Clippers, Wiggins, now in a reserve role, showcased resilience, contributing nine points, three rebounds, and a block in a limited 22-minute stint. Taking five fouls, Kerr, who says his defensive efforts against Kawhi Leonard and overall contribution cannot be undervalued, praised Wiggins’ energy. Further, Wiggins is an excellent teammate and professional; Kerry emphasized the player’s cooperative nature.
