Draymond Green has made a name for himself in the NBA because of his incredible exploits for the Golden State Warriors. During his illustrious NBA run, Green has won four NBA championships, a Defensive Player of the Year award in 2017, and countless All-Star and All-NBA accolades. Before becoming an NBA superstar, Draymond Green was just a scrawny teenager who occupied the bench for the Michigan State Spartans. In his freshman season of college, Green averaged just 3.3 points per game. However, by his junior year, Green gradually improved to become a vital cog for the Spartans. In fact, that year, Green joined Charlie Bell and Magic Johnson as the only Michigan players to record a triple-double.

The rollercoaster of a run might have been a distant memory until social media had Green reminiscing his college career. The Warriors star forward  joined in on a recent viral trend that asked people their “hardest moment of college career.” Draymond shared his via an Instagram story. He wrote, “Bet some of y’all skip. I got classical! I went to Michigan State… Duh,” sharing a picture of him and Magic Johnson in the program’s jerseys.

Will the Warriors part ways with Draymond Green?

Even the most optimistic Warriors fans will admit that the 2023-24 season has been a huge disappointment. They ended up in 10th place in the Western Conference, scraping together only 46 wins. And to add salt to the wound, the Sacramento Kings knocked them out of the Play-In tournament. This means the Dubs are missing out on postseason action for the second time in the last four seasons.

Apart from Stephen Curry, every other key Warrior had a down. The slump in performances and production, in particular, by Klay Thompson and Draymond Green was alarming. If it weren’t for youngsters like Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, Trayce Jackson-Davis and Moses Moody stepping up when needed, the Dubs wouldn’t have even come close to a record above .500. Therefore, the Warriors’ hierarchy would look to make changes this season, and that might include parting ways with Draymond Green.

The Lakers have been eyeing Draymond Green more and more in recent years. During the previous offseason, rumors linking Green to LA reached a fever pitch because of his increasing closeness to LeBron James. The Lakers would have been thrilled to have someone of Green’s caliber and skill set on board. However, Draymond decided to sign a four-year contract extension worth $100 million in 2023. This should’ve effectively ended all speculations. But after another disappointing season, a Draymond Green trade doesn’t seem that far-fetched.
