NBA icon Shaquille O’Neal reckons that Stephen Curry is the greatest point guard ever. The big man spoke his heart out during a podcast. Surprised by the remark, co-host Nischelle Turner asked O’Neal if Curry is greater than Magic Johnson. Shaq said yes without thinking twice. That perhaps is the impact Stephen Curry has been having in the modern era. But there’s someone who once dared to say that he was better than Curry.

The claim did not go very well with many NBA enthusiasts prompting the veteran to break his silence.

Ex-NBA star elaborates on his ‘better than Stephen Curry’ claim

During an appearance on?I am Athlete?podcast in April, ex-Wizards star Gilbert Arenas had said that at the age of 25, he was better than Stephen Curry.

Arenas was surely a force to reckon with during that time, as he had achieved three All-Star selections by that age. However, injuries and some controversies would later take a toll on his promising career.

In his recent interview with Vlad TV, Arenas said, “I got hurt at 25. So I don’t really have a resume after that. So my resume is by 25, these players couldn’t fu** with me. As a career, I’m not in these fu**ing categories.”

Arenas added he can’t compete with the?“God,”?alluding to Steph. But he also said,?“But before the God became a God,”?and paused for some time reminding everyone he still believes he was better off at 25 than Steph.

Hearing Arenas, many fans took to YouTube comment section and reminisced about his prime years in the NBA.

Dude was the man back then, a fan reacted. “He speaks as a true ?Hooper? not hate just game period. Great interview vlad.” Another fan said that he is not lying. “That guy put 60 on Kobe on staples center,”?a fan commented under the VladTV video on YouTube.

Some perhaps forgot or are to young to know but Gilbert when he was with the Wizards was a DOG scoring machine, a fan said. “Dude was a beast,” another fan said. “It was a brief era where you could make the argument that he was AS good as D-Wade, though their games were different.”

It is a no-brainer that Arenas was a true beast till he turned 25. His exploits with the Wizards during that time include a stunning solo show against Kobe Bryant and the Lakers at the Staples Center. But whether Gilbert Arenas was better than Stephen Curry at 25 is not something very objective to comment on.
