King James has been vocal about his desire to own a team in Las Vegas. He also talked about it ahead of his semi-final game against the New Orleans Pelicans. LeBron has a great understanding of how the sports business works, as he is already a part owner of the Boston Red Sox and Liverpool FC. He knows the potential Las Vegas has as a sports market. Despite several players advocating for a team in Sin City, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver does not have league expansion on his priority list.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver revealed in an interview with SiriusXM NBA Radio that currently there is no process in place to bring an NBA team to Las Vegas. Silver has league expansion on his mind, but he can only act on his thoughts when the NBA signs its new media deals. The league is in the second last year of its current national deal with ABC, ESPN, and TNT.
The NBA Commissioner further added that the new media deal will determine the economy for a league expansion. Adding billion-dollar teams to a league like the NBA is very expensive and requires a lot of budget, and it will only be considered if the next media deal is lucrative.
Silver also revealed that Las Vegas and Seattle are at the top of his priority list if he goes through with the expansion.
