Is LeBron James more valuable as a player or a mentor at this stage of his career?

It was only last season that we saw the oldest and the youngest active NBA players go head-to-head against each other. Yes, we are talking about LeBron James and GG Jackson II. Despite being generations apart, they will always share this one connection. However, while LBJ continues to dominate the league in his 22 season, GG has unfortunately been sidelined because of an injury. And LeBron had a special message for the Grizzlies star just days after he went viral for a hilarious interview.

After defeating the Raptors tonight, James was asked if he thinks about what an inspiration he is to young players while he is on the court with them. He replied, “Not in the moment.” Obviously, being a true professional and competitor, his primary focus is always on winning games. “I have always just played the game of how the game you know what’s in front of me and not try to get caught up in you know if I was an inspiration to somebody.” He added.

However, there have been some exceptions, “Unless it’s like talked about before the game. I remember the What’s the kid in Memphis? GG Jackson yeah.” Yes, facing last season’s youngest player definitely caught the King’s attention because the teenager was fanboying over him during an interview. Amid his response, LeBron also remembered that GG was currently injured and sent out his prayers, “A speedy recovery to him too. I hate that he’s not playing right now. Big fan of his.”

Well, Jackson recently underwent surgery to repair the fifth metatarsal in his right foot after he injured it during a hoop session in August. And he is expected to be re-evaluated next month. But even during his recovery, GG continues to win hearts as he recently had the fans in splits after conducting a Live TV interview from his bathroom.

And it was after he got called out by the Run It Back hosts and received a text from his parents that he decided to switch rooms. The show even showed a hilarious video of GG sprinting out of the bathroom with the camera still on trying to find an appropriate location for the interview. Maybe, it’s this wholesome nature that makes LeBron a big fan of the youngster.

During tonight’s post-game interview, LeBron mentioned the interview that made facing GG a memorable moment. Well, he was referring to the time when the Grizzlies star could not stop fanboying over LBJ after he muscled a comeback win for the Lakers last season. “It was cool to see him you know take over a game. I’m not gonna lie. That was bada**.” Jackson said in that interview.

Moreover, he even had high praise for the veteran star, “That just goes to show again the greatness that he has and the competitiveness he plays with.” Meanwhile, LBJ reciprocated the gesture by acknowledging the young forward’s talent, “Ever since he’s been playing, he’s gotten better and better. I had an opportunity to watch him a lot at Peach Jam a couple years ago, playing for team CP3 and I felt like he was one of the best players at Peach Jam that year.”

While the Grizzlies had an injury-riddled season, GG had a breakout rookie year averaging 14.6 points. Unfortunately, that momentum has been halted by the foot injury. But now that he has LeBron’s blessings, hopefully, he will recover faster and return to the court soon.
