The 2023 playoff series between Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Lakers went viral for one reason, and that is Dillon Brooks. The 27-year-old star tried his dirty tricks on LeBron James off the court to distract him. However, James being James, dismantled the No.2 seeding team in the first round itself. Following that, Brooks faced criticisms from all the sides and he eventually missed several press interactions. On top of that, the Grizzlies traded him out of the roster this offseason. Nevertheless, a former teammate heaped praise for him.

Fans on social media considered Brooks as a villain because of his altercation with King James. On the other hand, James remained cool throughout the entire tussle and showed his emotions after winning the series. The defeat eventually stripped off Brook’s place in the side. While the fans only witnessed the most hated side of DB, the star’s former teammate Danny Green revealed his unknown side.

In the offseason, the Grizzlies traded Dillon Brooks to Houston Rockets and acquired several notable star players in the roster. Especially, Marcus Smart replaced the defense corridor for the Memphis side. While the conversation around the league slammed the 27-year-old, Danny Green came to his rescue in a recent podcast.

Featuring in the recent episode of No Chill with Gilbert Arenas, the panel spoke about DB. Gilbert Arenas put forward an important question to Green. He asked, “Was he a good villain?” However, before answering that, Green revealed the unknown side of Brooks. He considered Russell Westbrook as “One of the greatest teammates,” and he equated Brooks to the same. Green further added, “When you’re playing against him he’s a pain in the a** but when you’re in the locker room… he loves his guys, he’s going to fight for his guys.”

Moreover, responding to the ‘villain’ question, Green said, “They’re great villains, but it depends on whom you’re guarding.”

Following that, James refused to respond to media about DB, but gave his response on the court. The Lakers eventually won the series with 4-2 record and the Grizzlies star skipped several media interactions after the losses.
